It would be nice if we could have infinitely long sheets like in Onenote. There really isn't a need to be restricted to physical dimensions of paper anymore.992 votes
Hey everyone, in GoodNotes 5, we added the ability to set the scrolling direction to “vertical”: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000118135-How-to-set-the-scrolling-direction-to-horizontal-or-vertical
We’re using a framework for page handling that treats every page as a separate file. This allows things like:
- export of a selection of pages
- easy reordering of pages within a document
- rotation of pages
- adding images/photos as standalone pages
- mixing multiple file types (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, GoodNotes) in a single document
Since each page is an individual file, a truly infinite sheet is not feasible with the current framework.
To be able to organise pages into sub folders 'within' each notebook would be very useful.566 votes
In GoodNotes 5 we implemented the option to create infinite subfolders to replace the concept of “categories” in GoodNotes 4. Consider using multiple documents in a subfolders instead of adding everything to one notebook. If you want to further divide your notebook internally, you can use bookmarks or custom outlines to label your pages.
Be able to record session (voice and desktop), to broadcast a lesson or presentation. Like in explain everything...but GoodNotes is better!54 votes
Apple introduced the ability to record the screen (https://support.apple.com/en-hk/HT207935) in iOS 11, which will work well to share a lesson/presentation from GoodNotes.
Having an Undo button on zoom menu would using it much faster.21 votes
GoodNotes 5.1 is now available and adds gesture control for undo & redo.
- two-finger double-tap for undo
- three-finger double-tap for redo
Instead of having to press any button, you can just undo/redo the last edit wherever you want.
You can read more about it here: https://medium.goodnotes.com/goodnotes-5-1-adds-gesture-control-for-undo-redo-2dc7db3a87b6
It should be allowed to show two pages of the same notebook at the same time instead of only able to show two notebooks side by side. This allows us to read more at a time, or even draw diagrams that can span two pages.17 votes
Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll consider it. In the meantime, please try opening the same notebook twice in two windows, which is possible after updating to iPadOS.
Sometimes I want to get an overview of my notes by checking the correlations between them
Make it more like a pdf reader so I can read two or more pages at one time3 votes
Thanks for the suggestion. For now, please try opening the same document in two windows side by side. You can drag and drop the page from thumbnail view to the side and navigate both windows independently.
It would be ingenious if you could generally scroll vertically in a document, but horizontally in parts (for example with an inserted PDF file), so that the PDF appears as a unit.
This would make the overview much easier and would be a unique selling point.2 votes
We considered that but found that it introduces a lot of complexity and is hard to understand for most users. You can quickly change the scrolling direction in the … menu in an open document.
Before confirming deletion, could the dialog include the name of the notebook I am about to delete? I often feel unsure whether I tapped on the right document.
Just if other users would find such feature useful as well...
Thanks for a lovely product!2 votes
Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll consider it. In the meantime, you can always use the recovery feature in the trash to recover accidentally deleted documents. You can find the trash in the menu.
Please create a squared A4 Page
(with two or 4 holes, where it can be perforated when it´s print out)
(with 41 squares)
, like a real college notebook.
This would really facilitate my learning routine!!!1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion. We’ve noted your request. For now, you can just scan a paper page or take a photo of the template you need and then add it to your templates library:
The ability to insert larger pages where required. I see from a previous response that continuos pages aren't an option for various good reasons. However, the ability to have larger pages that you can scroll around, zoom in, zoom out on would be useful. There are times when you need to put a lot of information on one page.1 vote
Thanks for the request. Noted. In the meantime, please consider adding custom paper templates to your library:
Please include Line formats used in German elementary schools like German Lineatur 1, Lineatur 2, Lineatur 3
Please include Line formats used in German elementary schools like German „Lineatur 1“, „Lineatur 2“, „Lineatur 3“.
German DIN 16552 - 1 , -2 , -3
This would make this great app THE top app for hundreds of German elementary schools = thousands of possible new buys on the one hand and happy users on the other.
The attached pictures show Lineatur 2 and 3...1 vote
We’ll note your request. In the meantime, please take advantage of the ability to import custom paper templates in GoodNotes. You can add any PDF or imag: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000115295-How-to-add-remove-custom-templates-to-from-the-template-library
As a student I like to use different colours for different subjects - I think pastel coloured A4 templates with both narrow and wide rulings plus a margin would be very useful.1 vote
GoodNotes supports the import of any PDF or image as a custom template. We recommend creating your own custom templates and adding them to the template library in GoodNotes: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000115295-How-to-add-remove-custom-templates-to-from-the-template-library
