Todo management
I take a ton of notes and produce a lot of todos from meetings, etc.
OneNote had this feature 15 years ago whereby you would add a todo box next to the line of a handwritten note. It then had a todo notebook that would pull all of the todo boxes from all notebooks. I'm dying to have this feature. I've searched and searched and can't find the feature anywhere! Please please add this!!

This can be linked with the tagging request!

That could work in also in a different way: I use to highlight the actions I need to do, in my notes, with a specific color. Them I’m able to see very rapidly, but page by page, what I’ve still to do.
Why not the possibility to extract all the lines highlighted with a specific color (to be chosen by user), and aggregate them in a specific notebook? -

ToDo list widget
ive seen many to do list requests but what would be really useful is a todo list widget on ios/android that's easy to update and i can easily check off things i already did.
I use goodnotes all day everyday and switching between goodnotes and a to do list app gets annoying, id rather have it all in once place! -

I totally get where you're coming from – that feature in OneNote was a game changer! I used it a lot years ago, and I’ve missed it since. I haven't found anything that does exactly the same thing, but what’s been working for me is pairing OneNote with Microsoft To Do. You can link tasks to notes, which is kind of a workaround, but it helps me stay organized. It’s not the same as having todo boxes right in the notebook, but it’s been a decent solution so far.

This is an absolute critical feature and for me currently the reason why I (must) stick to OneNote. I like GoodNotes very much, but the lack of a good To Do functionality kills it for me.

This would be an awesome enhancement!!!

Just posted a similar suggestion but figure I’ll mention here too - integration with to do apps is so important. People are using this to capture notes and to dos, but we need to be able to then easily integrate into task management apps. Otherwise this just ends up being a fancy analog notebook.

Add the ability to tag your notes with a "ToDo" things that auto populates a list or just lets you find your tags easily so you can put them on a list. Even the reduced functionality would be great.

Will be great if we can link with Microsoft To Do or Teams assignments or Jira IDs

This suggestion is 7 years old! Clearly Goodnotes don't listen to users.

The ability to insert a reminder date button would be a simple solution here.

I would suggest a simplified version that just allows inserting additional notes such as post its, or as the person suggested, a to-do list which could then be linked to a different notebook or page. I think the important feature would be that the additional notes are still visible (if necessary in a smaller font), and not like for example adobe's comments which only show the icon.

Probably the main feature which is needed for me to continue using thegood notes. My usage has reduced by 90% because I need To Do easy management and lists. I just need a simple select - add as a to do list

I would also really love to have an option where all my 'todo' tasks are pulled out into one single place.
With a number of notebooks, a lot of tasks get lost with time, and I have to put the TODO into another app to ensure it stays visible.
Please, this is so needed!
Thank you -

Have been using GoodNotes since version 4 and like the app as my daily diary for office work but seems it has stopped growing
Have been Looking for the todo, tags and back links in number of app which I would like to see in GoodNotesRightly said OneNote had the todo feature and now many other apps are taking over. Would not like to switch over but will have to do that if I can’t get the features to make my life more productive.

I’ve found that using iOS/iPadOS Shortcuts is a handy way to achieve this.
I created a list in Reminders called “Triage” to hold the reminders I create in GoodNotes.
Then I created a shortcut:
- Receive “Any” input from “Share Sheet”
- Split “Shortcut Input” by “New Lines”
- Repeat with each item in “Split Text”
— Add “Repeat Item” to “Triage” with “No Alert”
- End Repeat
- Show notification “Added reminders: “Repeat Results”Click the info button (the “i” in the circle”) and switch on “Show in Share Sheet”.
Now in GoodNotes:
- Capture your todos with the Lasso tool
- Open the popup by tapping within the lassoed section, and choose Convert
- This gives you a popup window with the text GoodNotes has discovered in the window
- Tap the Share button and choose your new shortcut
- Rejoice as each line of text is turned into a new Todo item in your selected list!It would still be great to have the auto-detected todo feature that Bob originally asked for, but this is a quick and easy workaround that only uses built-in apps.
You can download my shortcut from https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/2b4a006bbd994787b80bb3586ab05b69

Similar to some others mentioned, but to have a handwritten to-do list that syncs with existing services like Apple's Reminders or more importantly, Google's Tasks. So GoodNotes should recognize that this is a to-do list and essentially create a 'task' that will sync with Google tasks. And when you cross out/put a strike through the to-do item, that counts as it being done or completed and then that new status also syncs with Google tasks so it gets marked as completed. This would make it so compatible with many calendar apps and 3rd party to-do apps. I think this would be a MASSIVE feature that would truly eliminate one of the remaining reasons to write in a physical notebook/pad. And you'd be the first to do it too because no one else has done it yet and in my search, I saw many people searching for the same ability; handwritten to-do lists that sync in a meaningful way to your existing, omnipresent services like Google tasks. This feature alone would make me buy your app.
