Password protect
It would be great if you had an option to password protect a selected notebook in case you have to create one that would contain sensitive information.

Editing hyperlinks; they often get messed up when adding pages and we should have the ability to reassign the tab/link to a new page number so we don't lose its functionality.

I too am a mental health treatment provider, and would like that added layer of protection for GoodNotes. Thank you.

This seems to be requested a lot and the idea is 8 years old. How is this still not implemented?

Why have you not added password protection? Please respond over 5000 votes for this! What is the status?? Is it in the works or a no go?

OVER 5000 requests for password protection and it’s not on TOP list. Please move it to proper position on your lost of suggestions.

Offer password encryption and make HIPAA compliant by offering a BAA option.

why isn't this already implemented?
I was looking for exactly that feature because I share the iPad with my kids and as long as Apple is not able to ship multi user support on iPadOS, this (password protection) is a VERY VERY important and urgent feature!

Would be amazing if you can protect some notebooks and not others, but password for the entire app would be fine too. Thank you in advance.

Please include a way to lock a note so it can no longer be edited unless it’s unlocked. I use goodnotes for school notes and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been reading over my notes and noticed I had accidentally erased a section by accident. I would love to be able to lock all my notes I’ve done from previous semesters so this does not happen in the future. I think this could also be useful for a lot of other people as well

We URGENTLY need the password protection feature for certain notes.
I used to show some notes to others and let them read or write on it, but there are personal and sensitive notes that I want to keep it private, safe, and locked.
Please make this as the first priority. -

I’m shocked not to have password protection and starting to look for an alternative app.

How isn’t there a way to lock notes, folders, and notebooks in Goodnotes? Quite odd that anyone with access to my computer will also have access to my private notes, journals, etc.

As a psychologist, I would love to continue using Good Notes to store my client session notes. However, there needs to be a password encryption functionality before I can do so.
Please add this feature soon!

I, too, would like password protection on notebooks, but in honesty, it’s redundant. It would be akin to having multiple locks on a door, which isn’t necessary if you have a solid deadbolt already built-in (aka the built-in iOS security).
Using FaceID or TouchID with an alphanumeric passcode is all you need.
For those who say that they can’t use GoodNotes for legal docs because it doesn’t have a password, that’s ridiculous. The apps you’re using daily on your Windows or Mac don’t have built-in password security, and if they do, they’re easy to break (Word password protection).
To those who think that GoodNotes hasn’t implemented passwords because they want to read our notes, well that’s just so stupid I don’t even want to spend time constructing an argument that counters that.

I moved from Notability recently because of all the ways GoodNotes is superior. Adding to what everyone else is saying. Please add this. We are almost 10 years later. I understand nothing is simple in software development, but this feels like it at least deserves a response from the dev team

It’s probably non-negotiable and a brand’s accountability and responsibility to have this feature now. Please make password protection available.

Clearly a very big issue for a lot of people and it has been ongoing for some years. Could we get a response from GoodNotes as to why this feature is not added or if they are even considering it, would be nice to know these requests aren’t going on deaf ears

Develop a system that guarantees the confidentiality of sensitive information in notebooks. A very relevant feature for professionals who use GoodNotes for their work (doctors, lawyers, journalists, etc...) and who are legally responsible for guaranteeing the confidentiality of information. This can be done by setting a password for each notebook.
