This feature is invaluable for teaching, and I strongly favor goodnotes over other note-taking apps for its other features. I would be eternally grateful if this could be implemented!

Dotted lines are really necessary for mathematics and physics learning, does adding such a function really so hard? It brings a lot of inconvenience and that’s why I prefer Notability these days.

That GoodNotes didn't add it in 9 Years is sad.
With 2000 Votes 16,000 $ of money are behind it. But they still don't add it...
I speculate the reason for it is, that Noteability already has that feature. So they want to "Differentiate" themselves...

please add a way to draw dotted lines/different styles of line! in my maths lectures when i am marking points on a graph I use dotted lines and the current creation method is very clunky.

It is very, very necessary that not only the continuous line but also the dashed and dotted lines should be in the program. We need them in Mathematics, Statistics and Econometrics.

This is an idea that's been requested hundreds of times and with thousands upon thousands of votes. Why am I posting another request? Because most of the existing requests are either lacking in substance and have no explanation as for why it is such a useful tool or they're old and while highly upvotes, the devs haven't paid any attention to it. And currently there is no adequate workaround.

Why it's so useful:

A dotted line transports a whole different meaning than a continuous line. I'm a law student and I create dozens of drawings every day to better illustrate complex cases. To show the relations and possible claims of people I use a complex form of color coding. Using dotted lines for claims and relationships, that previously existed or could exist eventually would not only speed up the drawing process but also make drawings more comprehensible.
This is true for other professions as well: in maths, you could use dotted lines in graphs. I have friends in physics, engineering, medicine etc. who switched to notability despite it being the inferior tool just so they can have this (and some minor) features goodnotes doesn't provide.

There is no workaround:

Drawing single dots in a line feels like I'm slowly destroying the pencil and the display at once. It also looks incredibly ugly and takes far too much time for how simple of a tool this could be. Using colors to differentiate is no alternative because a dotted line has intrinsic meaning of eventuality, of possibility, which a color palette hasn't.

It should be easy to implement:

It's just like the lasso tool, except it stay on the paper. You could make it a 4th pencil. It doesn't have to be complicated or pressure sensitive. All that's needed is the ability to chose thickness and a color.

Implementing the feature would enable me to cancel my notability subscription and keep my notes in one app and one app alone. As of now, I'm paying 12,- € a year for a feature as simple as this one. Come on goodnotes, implemented it and make thousands of people very happy.

This is one of two reasons why I use Notability as well. I hate using both apps and I would instantly cancel my subscription with notability once this is introduced.

Please, for the love of god, ADD DOTTED LINE PEN.
