Ruler similar to apple notes app (ios9)
I don't know if there is an API for that, but this ruler is awesome and far better to draw technical stuff than the simple shape recognition (which is awesome, too).

I use this app for engineering in college but without a ruler and set of squares, I can’t do the things I need

Agree with all these suggestions. Ruler, protractor, set squares, grid overlay that can be turned on and off, snap to grid, snap to point, dotted lines, arrows.

There must be essential tools for doing geometry which will help in making precise lines, angles.

Yes! I need this feature. I’m a engineering student and I save a lot of paper by working in this app. We draw a lot in Smith charts and is great to be able to insert a Smith chart as a new page BUT we need a ruler :D

I agree ! I miss a ruler so much ! I use a plastic one but it’s slippery and so not very precise plus I’m scared of damaging my screen in the end
So please, please do something about that !

TEACHERS NEED RULERS!
Many Teachers at my school use Goodnotes as their primary Tool as a Replacement for the old classroom board. What we math teachers miss so much is a possibility to view the ruler on the beamer image like in the Notes App from Apple. The students need to see a ruler or a triangle ruler so that they can follow the teacher properly. There is no other App that does that. SO GO FOR IT! The Teachers around the world are waiting for this! If you are interested in working with a teacher for optimizing your App do not hesitate to write me an e-Mail, I would be happy to help with the development! -

Ruler and protractor support within the same note, not as Apple notes where the graphical element is integrated as a sketch.
This will allow the drawing of full diagrammatic sketches, plans, dimensions coupled with handwritten notes ready to be emailed or saved within the one single document.
As part of the diagrammatic element - being able to quickly added arrowed lines and then add hand written text will speed up annotation when sending documents to colleagues with comments. -

Yes and a protractor or a compass that would be great for math.

Please add this! I use GoodNotes to take notes in maths and this would make my life a hell of a lot easier. A ruler and protractor. If that's not possible then could you put a lock on the page? What I mean is a lock to stop the page moving while I'm trying to use a real protractor or ruler on the page and I accidentally hit the screen with my finger and it moves so I don't get the precise measurement I want.

Agree to this! I have been having trouble drawing proper lines even with the help of the shape tools
