Hello! We’re excited to let you know that we’ve updated the Text tool and introduced a new dedicated floating menu for text boxes, including more customization options.
One of the new tools is Pin Text Tool — when enabled, it keeps the Text tool active so you can create multiple text boxes continuously without having to reselect it each time.
This is especially helpful when you're focused on adding or adjusting text in your notes. The pin will automatically turn off once you switch to another tool.
Feel free to try it out and let us know how it works for you!
This improvement is available in the latest Apple update.

Goodnotes should just give people the choice. I know people who like it, and people who don't, let people choose if they want the new one or the legacy one. When using goodnotes for any math/stem course, the new bar is so clunky and so many things are so much harder to access. If you're just freewriting, then sure this is fine because it's more minimal, but so many people use goodnotes for more than just freewriting. I personally chose to use goodnotes because of all the amazing tools it has and the fact they were all super easy to use and switch between, but now these tools are hidden and more restrictive. I don't like that there is now a single pen size for the shapes tool, and I really don't like that things take longer to access. In fast-paced lectures, the legacy toolbar made it super easy to jump between tools, colours, pen sizes, etc. I truly don't understand why goodnotes would come out with an update this is more restrictive and makes its features more difficult to access or use.
