Double-page viewing.
As a professional musician, GoodNotes is almost perfect for viewing and marking up sheet music both during rehearsals and performances! In my circle of friends and colleagues, GoodNotes is really becoming our go-to app! We unanimously agree that the only feature that is missing for viewing sheet music is the ability to view two pages at once (like an open book or in Mac's Preview "double-page viewing"). Is it possible that I'm just not seeing this feature?
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Hi, I also created an account just to vote for the 2-page spread (not 2 separate windows with one page in each window).
I’m using a digital pdf 2023 diary this year in an effort to not have to physically print it and have another book to store that I have no space for, but I had to look for this feature that sadly doesn’t exist yet as I can’t see my calendar spread in its entirety.
This function exists in Adobe acrobat as 2 page view so I’m not certain why it’s so hard to imagine. Anyways hopefully they introduce it soon seeing as there are so many people who want it. At least in horizontal view! -

I would like this feature for using with choir music. Using GoodNotes allows me to mark up my music with the director's instructions while using it to sing from. You just need to be able to see two pages at once.

Thought I might as well add my comment as this feature still hasn’t been implemented.
Not only is this feature useful for sheet music or just viewing multiple pages at once/scrolling through a notebook or document with ease, it also makes the content you’re working on seem more like a real book.
At the moment I feel stuck with Goodnotes (or really any note-taking software) because I can rarely see much information whilst I’m trying to look through something. For example I’m hesitant to compile a digital cookbook rather than a physical one as it’s just more difficult to flip through and look at everything all at once.
I feel like this feature would be so simple to implement yet impactful and definitely different to multiple-window-viewing. Please Goodnotes, implement this feature.

In response to the “Try This” feel like the two windows would be clunky, versus just allowing it to be an option. Hope your suggestion comes to fruition, you’ve got my vote.

So double page view is just a dream so….
I saw tens of topic request this. And the team always suggest to do a double split view
😢😢😢 -

Are the staffs really think that the same things.
Seriously?
Double page view is different from split-viewing 2 single page, you know that right? Right!? -

Adding a request for side by side page view, like a regular book. Side by side window view is way too much work for regular viewing (you basically would have to turn pages twice). Please implement a real feature!

Please don’t say you implemented this when clearly you didn’t. We’d like two pages side by side like a book. Not two windows like two books.

We need a book like view format. For eg. we would like to see the current and the next page of a document at once. Like a physical book

Hi GN , your solution is not the same as double page view aka page spread view, like any and all pdf readers have.
This is important also for scientific textbooks, where you often get diagrams or equations on one side and relating explanations on the facing side.
With your solution scrolling will not update both sides of the page spread to the next 2 pages.
would also useful for double paged organiser layouts -

Hey there, I'm a new GoodNotes user, and was trying the product before I buy. It's pretty great so far, but I immediately needed to search for this feature since I found it was missing.
It seems what you can do is open the same document in two separate windows, however you must then also navigate the two separately.
What we want is the ability to see two pages side-by-side and navigate them both at once. So for example if I'm currently viewing pages 4 and 5, if I swipe once across my document I expect to then view pages 6 and 7. Just like a real book in real life.
There's certainly applications for viewing the same document in two separate windows (when you need to reference different sections that are several pages apart), however there's ALSO practical applications for viewing two pages at a time and navigating through them like a normal book. Will this be added anytime soon?
Thanks!

I also created a Goodnotes account for the sole purpose of upvoting this request. I use Goodnotes for taking notes in my masters degree program, and I would love the ability to do this, both on my iPad and Mac!

Yes, we want to be able to view it like a book!!

I created a goodnotes account just for this LOL. I think you misunderstood. I would like the option to see my pages like an open book. The left side with the back of the previous page and the right side being the current front page. The split screen/multiple windows idea is great, but not exactly hitting the mark for this request.

I think the update with the ability to have two open windows works for some things, but for the OP question, I believe it failed to offer a solution. Is there a possibility to be able to open a document and read it like a book, where I would be able to see a page, and swipe to the next one and be able to see them both on the same window? Thank you!

Agreed with every other comment - that is not a satisfactory solution for the request and makes it incredibly difficult to play multi-page musical pieces where I need to see two pages at once. I love the app and an ability to change the view to something akin to an open book would make it so much better.

The solution is missing the mark, I think everyone is pretty clear on what they are requesting here. I hope someone will revisit this please. It’s the only critically missing feature for academics and musicians alike in an otherwise perfect app.

Will this ever be implemented in a propert way? I agree, multiple windows is not the same thing as double (or multiple) pages view.

Please do this like in adobe acrobat. It will be very useful while studying the notes.

Yes, this feature is long time missing. So many times the developers have been informed. There should be an option to edit in book view. It would be so convenient for students like us to read and write the content like a book than a single page taking a whole lot of space on the screen.
