Two separate files/notebooks simultaneously visible on same tab (not split view]
I think split view is a useful tool to take advantage of but still not as efficient/user friendly as I’d like it to be.
Example: I want to read a pdf document and take notes of that content as I’m reading through the document. While split view can facilitate this situation, it takes too much screen space with all the tools. It’s also two separate documents that aren’t really linked/associated with each other.
Solution A: add a sticky note tool option to the toolbar so that we can have a floating sticky note on whatever page we’re on. This has been suggested already and think it would be useful. Maybe it’s a floating sticky note that can be collapsed and expanded as we read through the document. This sticky note is essentially its own document that can be opened separately from the PDF document where it was originally created (almost like linking a notebook into a PDF document). If we open the original PDF document, we should still be able to access the sticky note content as well.
Solution B: Essentially the same thing as solution A, but instead of a sticky note, it would be an actual notebook. We should have the option of clicking the toolbar and adding a sheet that would also be collapsible/expandable and floating.
Example: I’m reading a 15 page Document (PDF or notebook), and I’d like to take notes of some of the content. I want to take notes from page 3,6,8, and 10. In the end I’d have a separate notebook that is only 4 pages long. This notebook can then be opened separately so as to review the content but would also be linked/associated with the original document that it was created in (if I open the 15 page document I would still be able to see the 4 pages in whatever location they were originally created)
I know this is a lot but I hope it makes sense and I hope others will find this useful. I can create some mockups of what I mean if that would help.
