Sharing and View Only
I would like to be able to share the document/folder with someone without them being able to edit it. I use this in a classroom as I teach, and I'd like students to be able to revisit information which I write. Google Docs has a great function where users could either view only, or have editing rights.

Hi GoodNotes Team,
I want to start by saying how much I love GoodNotes. The writing experience is unmatched, and it’s been my go-to app for teaching. My students love how clean and organized the notes look, and I love how natural it feels to use.
But here’s the problem: as a teacher, I need to be able to share my notes with students in a view-only mode that auto-updates. Right now, my only options are:
Exporting PDFs daily (which is too time-consuming across multiple classes), or
Sharing collaboration links (which let students edit — not workable in a classroom).
Because of this limitation, I can’t continue using GoodNotes for teaching, even though I’d rather stay. Other apps (like Notability and Nebo) already allow either auto-backup to a cloud folder or publish-to-web links where students can always see the latest version but can’t edit.
Please know: I’m not leaving because I don’t love your app. I’m leaving because this one missing feature makes it impossible for me to use GoodNotes in my classroom. If view-only live sharing ever comes to GoodNotes, I’ll be the first one back.
Thank you for all the work you put into making GoodNotes so great. I hope you’ll consider teachers like me who want to keep using it, but need that one extra feature to make it work in real classrooms.
Sincerely,
A Teacher Who Really Wants to Sta -

I did not realize that sharing a link with my students would enable them to edit my documents. I JUST WANT THEM TO SEE THEM! saving them to pdf and then changing my website every day for 4 classes is a no go for me. I will be cancelling my subscription and looking for something else.

Same, same... just had a horrible incident with yr 7 students editing the screen then not being able to verify the student that was doing it. I have an idea... but cannot use as evidence. please help!

My college teacher uses GoodNotes live in class. It would be nice if he could share his notes live with the class in a view only-manner, but allowing us students to take notes locally without affecting his document.

I currently use this feature extensively on Notability and its lack on Goodnotes is the only thing stopping me from switching.
As a teacher it’s just too much work to convert to PDF, then share with students every time I make an edit, or complete another worked example. Whereas with this feature you just update the link (or it syncs in real time) and the students hit refresh on the same link.

Yes, I got the same problem as a teacher! Would be such a time saver!

I am an instructor and 1 currently share my good notes by exporting to PDF, copying to onedrive, and sharing the link. I only want the students to have a read only copy. I have to do this every time I update a students record, several times a day.
The collaboration feature would be ideal if only you could have the option of making the document read only.
This feature would save a massive amount of time and effort. I could update the students progress and they could see the changes immediately -

The sharing option that we have now is good but being able to share with classmates without them editing would be even better. It’s frustrating spending so much time on a document for someone to accidentally delete notes.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put this at the top of your list. I share my personal notes in college with classmates but DO NOT want them to have the ability to edit them. Sometimes when thumb scrolling on our phones, if the eraser tool is selected, sections can easily erased by accident.
