More flexible page arrangement
I like the non-linear note taking that an infinite canvas allows. Especially when doing a pdf paper review over zoom, it is useful to be able to break out to the side of the pdf page and draw illustrations of various points for discussion. When not presenting it can still be useful when note-taking to be able to add notes along side relevant pages/equations in a PDF. Otherwise you end up adding notes in pdfs just as you would in the paper version - constrained to small margin areas or writing over the text, instead of being able to write pages of notes alongside a particular page of a pdf document.
Given Goodnotes pagination model an idea to achieve this might be to place the pages being added to a good notes documents in a 2-D manner instead of linearly. So if I have my pdf document imported and I'm scrolling horizontally (although changing to vertical makes more sense for this) to get pages in the default mode, instead of just adding a page when I swipe left after the end of the document I could also add a page below or above the existing page by swiping that way. In this way I would have a 2-D layout where pages of notes would be located near each other logically, and I could trace through different lines of thought. Page view would then need to zoom out to show the pages in their 2-D structure.
