You can accomplish this by erasing only the border: Zoom in closely with the eraser set to “erase entire stroke” and make sure to touch only the border.

If you press undo (ONLY ONCE) after you have drawn the shape it removes the border. (if you press undo twice it removes the border and the fill shape.)
