Why this feature is important to me: I want to be able to organize my files in iCloud or Dropbox or whatever using a filing system - in my case it's tag-based, but it could be folder-based too - a filing system that doesn't depend on whether I'm using tablet or computer. In my case, I have computers at home and office and tablet for the train. I want my documents to be integrated in my general filing system. I don't want my documents imported into the specific iPad app I'm using to annotate them. Importing means that I have to remember with app I used to open the file. Importing means that I may have multiple copies of the file, if I open it with different apps that requiring import rather than permitting open-in-place. Importing means that I have to duplicate my filing system or something like it within each app, which is a non-starter. Importing means that I have no way of opening the file on my computer unless I buy the corresponding Mac-app - no, sorry, I think that's possible via what used to be called "itunes file sharing" but is now managed by the Finder. Though I can't actually make it work, at the moment - all I see under Goodnotes is a log file that won't open. And I have to be connected via USB, I think, so this doesn't really seem like a good option.
