1. Marketplace

   It would be a great idea to implement a Marketplace with in app purchases like in Notability, that way everyody could customize goodnotes for his own use of the app. I think that would solve many common requests, for example the need of more pens and stylus, graphics tools or even math recognizing features.

2. Tap Shortcuts--Optional

   PLEASEEEEEEEE make the 'Two finger tap, Three finger tap' undo/redo an option for users, I am constantly undoing/redoing things on accident just by writing. It is SO FRUSTRATING because I have been using the actual 'undo' button in the toolbar for years and am so used to reaching for it. all of the recent updates are GREAT, except that you don't have the option to 'opt-out' for certain changes.

3. tool bar favorites while using zoom feature

   I would love it if when using the zoom feature there was a smaller tool bar above the zoom window. It breaks up the flow to have to reach all the way to the other side of the screen to change the pen or color I am using. If it was completely customizable like with the pens, highlighters etc. I choose and able to be moved around the screen that would be great too.

4. Shapes- they are not at all user-friendly

   Should be able to customize way more-
   • unlock aspect ratio on things like rectangles
   • choose if you want border
   • pre-set shapes instead of being required to draw it
   • drag straight, vertical, horizontal line options again, instead of having to draw
   •graphs

6. Nudge and/or ‘snap to grid’ option when moving selections

   As someone with hand tremors, it is difficult to get things like text boxes and pictures and doodles into position easily. It would be nice if I could select an item, move it close to the desired position, then nudge it up/down/left/right with the arrows on the keyboard.

   • I know tapping on the screen deselects, so I am not sure how to accomplish this with gestures when there isn’t a keyboard... maybe drag the selection with one finger and hold down another finger to allow you to tap outside the selection to nudge it in that direction...

   The option to drag grid lines from the top or sides and snap selections to those lines would work as well. (Plus, if there are default grid line layouts we could choose from that will snap text- even separate boxes- to standard notebook paper, that would be awesome!)

7. Signature workflow

   You need to deeply think through the workflow around signing complex documents. Apple Mail now handles simple signatures directly within the email app. But this doesn't always work.

   The workflow with Goodnotes (and all other apps, mostly because of sandboxing of common document types like PDF, which should not be sandboxed because they do no harm--but no one on the planet will convince Apple because Jobs didn't like file systems and no one at Apple can contest the memories of the infallible Jobs). Phew.

   There are several problems specific to Goodnotes for this obvious and common business scenario:
   1. Goodnotes doesn't support share sheets. So "open in..." or "Share" don't work from an email app (Mail, Outlook, etc) or from Preview (where most pdf's opened will open).
   2. No. 1 requires a new workflow step: save the pdf somewhere.
   3. Import the pdf so it can be signed with Goodnotes.
   4. Again, a failing of no share sheet--most apps that can open or receive a pdf don't get shared to from Goodnotes.
   5. Because of no. 4, export the flatted or editable PDF somewhere...
   6. From the sender's email application, attach the pdf file from step 5.

   This is a mess. I have 2 files that I must manage manually to in order to avoid retaining duplicate files.

   How this should work:
   1. From an email with an attached pdf file, open in Goodnotes.
   2. Sign the document or make annotations, other comments as needed in Goodnotes.
   3. "Email to..." as an explicit command in Goodnotes. Ideally there would be a reply to sender(s) option that would provide a bit of a shortcut by filling in to: field of the email app.

   Under the hood, step 3 exports to a private place used by Goodnotes in the file system. As part of the email to (an alias for share via an email application) command this exported file--with a sensible name not autogenerated cryptic garbage--is attached to a blank new email. If "reply to" is enabled, then the to: field of the message has been filled out already. After hitting send, return to Goodnotes. Goodnotes itself is not responsible for displaying the new message or sending it: Goodnotes calls and passes the attachment to the email app. So, on return to Goodnotes (either automatically if the email application supports a callback) or because the user context switches to Goodnotes, there is a "Done" button or link in the dialog (or panel or page or view or whatever trendy UI mechanism is provided). Clicking done deletes the exported pdf from its hidden folder.

   The hidden folder has to be accessible in the file system to handle inevitable failures in the workflow. The important thing here is that THERE IS NO REASON to retain the exported PDFs ever. The user has the signed (and/or marked up in other ways...) document as a native GoodNotes file in the Goodnotes icloud sandbox, visible in the Goodnotes UI. If the user wants to maintain duplicate PDF backups somewhere (Dropbox, ICloud Drive, OneDrive etc.) that is up to the user.

   This reduces a 4 step process with 2 files to manage to a 2 step process with no files to manage.

   Millennial developers might not consider this important, but it is a fundamental workflow for middle aged people with responsibilities. While the developer as user does lead to some good features, it is too limited a few. Go study (virtually--alas, Covid) real users. Developers are not always an ideal proxy for users.

   Thanks for sharing your detailed feedback about the email workflows. In fact, we are thinking about this and have implemented a feature that should shorten these steps for you already and let you automate parts of it to a certain extent. We call it “Email to GoodNotes”. It allows you to automatically import PDF attachments to emails that are sent to a unique GoodNotes email address.

   By using services like Zapier or IFTTT, you can also automatically forward email to this address, so that PDF attachments will always show up in your GoodNotes “inbox” when your defined criteria are met (for example from a specific sender).

   Of course, this doesn’t yet help for the step of the workflow where you have to send the file back.

8. Missing Keyboard shortcuts for Laser pointer and Clear Page

   Would be great to add more keyboard shortcuts on MacOS version but also for iPad with external keyboard.

    Notability now offers an extension that allows the user to convert written math into a digital font (trig functions, integrals, summation, greek alphabet etc.) I think that this would be one of the most utilized features in goodnotes if it were to be added. It is infinitely more appealing and much easier to understand especially for very large problems.

13. Use of Apple Pencil in Flashcard studying mode

    It would be great if you can use the apple pencil in studying mode to take notes for more complex answers or drawings.
    You could also use this feature to learn the structure of scientific models by leaving some information out at the front of the flashcard, fill them in and then compare with the solution after flipping the card. It would also be possible to put tasks like "Draw the xy-model" on the front page and the corrrect model on the back of the flashcard.
    To implement this solution a bigger display of the card would be helpful.

14. Checklist similar to the extinct WunderList

    I loved WunderList and used it extensively to keep track of all the things I needed to do - until Microsoft ruined it. I have since reverted to using the Apple Reminders app. It is ok, but nothing like WunderList. It would be very nice for GoodNotes to have something similar to WunderList, whereby when you have a listed item then you complete it by checking a box, the item disappears. If you want to go back and look at what was completed or you completed something by accident, you can look at all the items on the checklist.

    Also, I would love the ability to record audio while taking notes. That is a huge one that GoodNotes needs ASAP. I agree with other people who are saying the same thing!

16. Zoom window in one side in landscape mode

    It would be nice if the zoom window can be put on the left side(for left handers) or right side of the screen on landscape mode instead of on the bottom.

17. New Features in GoodNotes?

    Hello,
    First of all I must say that I love the app and the overall workflow it provides. However, I found few small issues that I think could really improve the performance:

    1. I would like to be able to export selected pages. Sometimes I need to send pdf of 2-3 pages from my notes and I cannot do it easily.

    2. I would like to be able to share whole folder with my cooworkers

    3. I would like to notify my coworkers when I edit something in the document. Maybe some kind of pop-up notification or icon would be enough.

    These are 3 things that came to my mind.

18. Option to hide flashcards

    I was reading the document and making flashcards. But when reading it again, i had to go through like 20 flashcards while reading my document, which i felt was annoying. Either there could be option to hide flashcards, or a separate tab for them as there is for outline, thumbnail etc

19. Select equation and get them solved

    Good notes is the perfect app for maths practise as maths requires a lot of practise. It would be great if you could just select a set of equations and the app would automatically detect the variables and numbers and solve the equations. This would be of tremendous help
