To create a table of content with links to the sections and subsections
GoodNotes 5.0.15 added the ability to create “Custom Outlines”. It allows you to create a table of content for any document. Subsections aren’t yet supported but it is something we’re considering for future updates.
Here’s more about custom outlines:

Yes, make this possible. It makes it easier to add subsections to a textbook pdf and be able to organize it thoroughly.

I would love the functionality to edit or add a table of content. I used the bookmark feature in Goodnotes 4 to solve the use case. Now it isn't possible anymore because the bookmarks are displayed only as thumbnails and there is no way to give them names.

Bookmarks used to work but they no longer work as now you can't name them and they just show as images instead of a list. I used to just use spaces and a bracket (e.g., " >") as a way of doing subsections in an effective TOC but now cant. This is hugely disruptive for me. I may go back to old version as a result.

Yes, please do so. I really miss this Feature I had with GoodNotes 4: I tagged a page as a favourite and it got summed up as a list, not as miniature Pages. With goodnotes 5 I do Not have a good overview regarding my favourite/Most important Pages!

If you import PDF documents with an electronic table of contents into GoodNotes, GoodNotes can display them. It would be fantastic if you could also create them in GoodNotes!

Bookmarks are not helpful here, as no further subcategories can be added to them!

Hi I love the new GoodNotes 5 but would it be possible to add a feature to show the bookmarks as a list? I use descriptive names for the bookmarks to sort my notes and the new icons make it cluttered and hard to follow vs a simple linear table of contents. Thanks and great new release

You can do this yourself by using Bookmarks.
