  1. Stop having lasso be the default tool. I cannot even remove it from the toolbar. It is frustrating that everything always goes back to lasso. I can’t even do multiple text boxes one after the other because once you type in a text box once and click off it goes straight to lasso instead of having text toggled on like it used to

Hello! Thanks so much for your feedback and for sharing your ideas with us.

We’re excited to let you know that we’ve updated the Text tool and introduced a new dedicated floating menu for text boxes, including more customization options.

One of the new tools is Pin Text Tool — when enabled, it keeps the Text tool active so you can create multiple text boxes continuously without having to reselect it each time.

This is especially helpful when you're focused on adding or adjusting text in your notes. The pin will automatically turn off once you switch to another tool.

Feel free to try it out and let us know how it works for you!

This improvement is available in the latest Apple update.

    • Show only the tools you need: Hide or unhide tools from the main toolbar.
    • Arrange your most-used tools: Drag and drop tools to reorder them.
    • Customize the Writing Tools panel: Show or hide writing tools and change their order with drag and drop.
    • Add more tools to the main toolbar: Include Zoom Window, Time Keeper, or Ruler.
    • Move the floating menu: Drag the Shapes or Writing Tools floating menu to any screen edge—top, bottom, left, or right—to snap it into place.

  3. After the latest update, I can’t find a way to set a default font and size for the textbox, unlike before when you can just click the icon and store the current font and size as default. Right now, every time you add a textbox, you have to start typing from blue, size 10, Modern font and change it manually.

Hello! The option to set the default style for text boxes is already available.

You can do it in two ways:

    1. From the text box object menu (tap the three dots → Save as Default).
    2. From the Text Tool floating menu (tap the T with a heart icon). This icon becomes active whenever your current settings differ from the default.

You can save any settings as default: color, size, font, text style, alignment, line height, and text box style.

Let us know if it works for you!

  4. Why can't I rotate shapes? This is a very basic function of all note taking apps.

Why can't I make shapes smaller than an arbitrary vertical size threshold? You can make shapes as skinny as you want, but you cannot make them shorter than some random limit the team(?) decided was an appropriate size.

Not being able to make small shapes and/or rotate shapes at all severely limits my ability to take notes and make diagrams in classes like biochemistry and biology (which is probably a significant portion of your users, btw!).

This existed in 6... why would you remove…

    Thanks for your feedback!

Shape rotation has been fixed and available in today’s release. With the new v7.0.8 update, shapes created by drawing and holding with the pen tool can now be rotated.

Update your app to try it out!

  5. The biggest pro of digital note taking is the boundaries of traditional one and paper that it breaks.
Studies have shown that learning efficiency and understanding of a subject is increased by higher order learning and mind mapping. For these techniques, an infinite canvas is needed.

It would be highly appreciated if this function would be added.

    Thank you.

We're excited to share that with the September update, this feature is now available as Whiteboard, a new document type. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version to access it.

Here are more details on how Whiteboard works: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/13693350308751-Whiteboard#h_01K4CHGTANCEENAPYENCYEYS68

  6. The latest update has the zoom window and the audio features hidden within a drop down. Since the spell check and other lasso features don’t work while the zoom window is active, it’s important to have easy access to toggle between a zoom window on/off.

  8. This is a great place to inform the GN developers of customer feature requests but it's currently infiltrated by scam ads and marketing that just clog the system. There must be a way to stop such parasitic behaviour.

  9. Since GoodNotes 6, family sharing via the Apple iOS app store is unfortunately no longer supported by GoodNotes.

This is really frustrating because it means that we can no longer use the app as a family. That's why I would like to suggest that the developers reconsider supporting family sharing in GoodNotes 6 as well.

    Hi Jennifer,

    Thanks for your request!

The option to convert one or multiple pages from a notebook or PDF to whiteboard already exists.

    Here’s how to do it:

    1. Go to Pages navigation
    2. Tap the three dots (⋯) → Select Pages
    3. Choose the pages you want to convert (one or more)
    4. Tap More → Convert to Whiteboard

Let us know if that works for you!

  12. Moving the eraser types (Stroke Eraser, Standard Eraser and Precision Eraser) to the toolbar on the right, where the eraser size already is, would make switching easier. Currently you have to always go to the eraser menu which gets stressful.
    Thank you!

  13. People with Tiny TINY genitalia and even smaller brains, seem to think that spamming this idea forum will somehow inspire the annoyed users jump up and buy the useless crap they’re selling.

There should be spam filtering implemented along with human checks.

They’re even getting AI to make the posts now so they appear to vaguely contribute while still link spamming.

It would almost be impressive if the bar was not set soooo low for their sad pathetic bovine copulating existence.

  14. The "UNDO" and "REDO" buttons in Goodnotes 6 have moved from the top right corner in Goodnotes 5 to the top left corner. When using UNDO, it's often necessary to see up to which step I've undone. But after moving to the top left, not only does my right hand have to move a considerable distance, but my entire hand covers the screen, making it hard to see where I've undone to. I hope the UI design can be changed back to the top right corner.

  15. I am incredibly happy that you have added the voice recording feature. I would be very pleased If you add another feature where we can adjust the speed of the audio recording. (such as 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x or 0.5x)

  16. It would be cool to have the option, to lock a document, so that it only can be accessed by keyword/face_id/fingerprint. This would be nice for Bankstatements, private diaries or just as a way from keeping other ppl from snooping around in ur documents

    Thanks for sharing the idea!

The option to lock your documents with a password or Touch ID is already available in the app. Make sure you’ve updated to the latest version.

  17. Among the recent “ideas” I’ve seen more comments sharing links to casino websites than actual useful ideas. I don’t know if there’s already someone moderating the section, but I think it’d be faster to ban links in the comments (I’m not an expert in website development so I don’t know how hard it actually would be)
    Thanks

  18. Some free programs, like CollaNote have a rectangular lasso tool where you drag the top left point to the bottom right that is honestly faster in a lot of cases for very straightforward notes, instead of needing to draw a nearly fully closed circle.
