'Send to Back', 'Send to Front", 'Send Backward', 'Send Forward'
Like in any application you can send images or objects backward, forward, etc. Would be great to have this especially when you want the handwritings to overlap with images or vice versa, or when you need to edit it.
When I was still using a Samsung Note 8, I was able to do this so, im pretty sure the mighty iPad Pro can do it as well :)
its pretty basic since many of the applications already in iOS do this. Would love for this basic feature to be available. if it already is, please... someone help me!

I hope this hasn’t been ignored, it’s a very important feature. Make or break using the app tbh.

this is not completed. There is now "send to back" & "bring to front", but there is NO "bring forward" ◀−−− & NO "send backward" ◀−−− each of these would move the selection 1 layer forward or 1 layer backward at a time, not send them many many layers allllll the way to the very back or alllllll the way to the very front.

Can't believe this would be too hard just add option to selection tool menu.
You can cut and paste to rearrange but that is tedious.

Considering the original comment was posted five years ago and this still is not resolved or updated, it doesn't seem likely that it's going to happen, but I'm throwing my comment here to show support! Please?!

This is definitely a simple and important feature to have. Inserting images is key, and we need to be able to organize them easily.

I can't believe this feature is still missing until 2023

I know this probably doesn't help much, but heres how I've worked around this problem!!
If you want to put a picture under an already existing text, copy the text. Delete the already existing text and place the image where you want. Paste the text on top of the image and use the lasso tool to move it wherever you want it too!
As far as I'm aware, this works with elements, text, photos, and a lot more!! I hope this helps, even just a bit!! -

Please, I have difficulties reading and so bringing able to bring the text to the front of the highlighting, or move the highlighting to the back of the text, would be very beneficial to me!

Does Goodnotes EVER read these comments and/or act on them? We’ve been asking for basic features like this and a color eye dropper literally for years, and nothing ever changes. It’s almost like they’re humoring us at this point. I’m starting to lose faith in the developers, ngl.

Doesn't have to be layers per se (though that would be nice), but something like Word/PPT's move to back/front would be just fine. Amazed it isn't already here, though TBH I only looked for it today, so obviously haven't needed it for a year. It's tolerable for private doodles, but otherwise I'm going to have to reproduce public-facing drawings in another tool.

What a basic option to be missing in such an excellent app... unbelievable to be honest!

It is crazy to me that 3 years later this is still not possible. Having multiple images, script, and text on a single page makes it very frustrating to edit after the fact without the simple ability to just move an object backward or forward. Having to copy/cut paste every item in order to preserve its spot on top is not a solution.

I can’t believe this isn’t an option. Kinda ridiculous for a paid app. Thanks so much to Jatin for the workaround. I got this for notes and scrapbooking but I may look elsewhere if this stays annoying.

So need the layer feature for creating sketches in my notes. Very relcutantly thinking about changing to another app.
