I'm surprised that we are having to request the ability to password protect our personal data. It seems this might oversight on the part of the developers.

So far, 7500 users voted to be able to secure their notes and nothing has changed. Please think about the massive segments of business that would use this app if there were only some way to secure certain notebooks or folders from others.

Doctors, Lawyers, Entrepreneurs, Therapists, etc. Many professionals would like secure "handwritten notes" and being able to search them. I am a supervisor at my job who does a lot of my note-taking on my iPad. I can never keep my supervisor log in Goodnotes though, unfortunately, because when I search for something else while talking to someone, sensitive notes could come up. This does not happen when using Apple notes, because of my ability to lock individual notes. When a locked result comes up in Apple Notes, it simply shows blank. Adding this "locking" functionality would make Goodnotes 100% more viable for professional use in my opinion.

I have convinced so many co-workers to buy this app and could convince many more if it had more privacy features. I always want to show them the search function, as the icing on the cake when they ask me about the app, but I have stopped doing so, for fear that something unrelated or personal might come up. In not listening to users, you are taking tools away from your biggest marketing department: Word-of-mouth. For now I have to say "I'd show you the handwriting search feature, but..."

I would very much love to have this feature. I have requested it on support on three occasions and that is where I got the link to vote for it. Hope they consider and bring it to us.

Irei utilizar para anotações no me trabalho, e como é voltado a terapia, precisam ser confidenciais e restritas somente a mim. É de suma importância ter senhas de segurança ao abrir o aplicativo e tambem as pastas. Principalmente que tera interação com a plataforma windows. A possibilidade de alguem invadir nossas informações e dados de clientes é grande. E pela lei de protecao de dados é bem importante para esse aplicativos. Senha e proteção é mais importante que cor de pasta e IA, que foram feitos nessa ultima atualização goodnotes 6. Vocês precisam priorizar essas funções, caso contrário, o app servirá apenas para anotações basicas apenas para estudantes.
Como é um app para substituir o papel, que é uma excelente ideia!!!! Precisam se preocupar com a segurança das informações e dados!!! Perto de alguns apps essa questão é vantagem competitiva. Obrigada.

Same request you've been getting for 10 years! Allow Password protection. I like the program but can't use it because it is so insecure. This makes any serious use impossible.

They clearly don't care about users, the app is so useless, I stopped using it, gave up, did a factory reset of my mac laptop, and did not install the app, probably never will... As far as I am concerned, Goodnotes is a scam, and I tried sending a request to Apple to investigate or ban the app from the app store, the app is still on the app store, even though I pointed out in my email the users asking, pleading, begging, Apple do nothing... Oh well..

Please add this feature. Why is nobody from GoodNotes responding to this? Please respond.

Using biometrics (FaceID or finger print) would be better. A password would be the next best option. Ultimately, this is a great idea though.

Although, aren't your devices (computer, tablet, phone) all supposed to be locked/protected anyway?

That's a great idea. Like on the Apple Notes app you can lock certain notes to keep sensitive information safe.

I recently started a journal on my iPad and it has been very good for my mental health. I think some other people may possibly have the same idea and think being able to set a password on your notebooks would be very beneficial. I have written a lot about my personal life in my journal, and while yes, my iPad does have a password, it would add a bit more sense of security to be able to have them on certain goodnotes notebooks. Whatsapp has a feature where it requires Face ID in order to view messages on the app. Why cant goodnotes have something similar?

I am going to have several students use a shared iPad for math notes in class. I would like them to have individual passwords on their personal notebook so they can fool around with other students' folders.

I actually use Goodnotes in a mode where I store client and counselee data on the platform. All notes are handwritten. Goodnotes is an outstanding tool to accomplish this. While I am a Pastoral Counselor, typically HIPPA restrictions don't apply. On the other hand, per out policies, I would like to secure the data with two-factor authentication and encryption. This would be a great upgrade. Pls advise if you do this already. It's not clear where or how the data is stored wrt the iCloud capability documented in the Goodnotes information and online "manuals". Any information pertaining to this kind of security would be immensely helpful.... thank you! and Blessings, Chris

Yes, password protected folder/vault would be great!

It is silly for the developers to have ignored this request for so long, I guess they assume that if you are logged into the device, you have permission to access the goodnotes app... That is not really how it works.. Nor should it be, log into the device should NOT give/grant access to documents within an app.

At the very least I would like the option of password protecting the app itself. My only security measures at the moment are:
a) Burying sensitive information in nested, deceptively titled folders/notebooks.
b) Handwriting them in an obscure language for which handwriting recognition is not supported (in my sloppiest handwriting).

It's getting silly now.

Today I wanted to switch to goodnotes v5 on ios (purchased version).
After I found out that there are no security measures for my notes, there was only one solution:

Uninstall Goodnotes on all devices and return to the operating system's own Notes app.

Too bad about the money

This is a no-go in this day and age

Maybe I'll come back someday, as long as the password function has been built in, who knows...
