Password protect
It would be great if you had an option to password protect a selected notebook in case you have to create one that would contain sensitive information.
Introducing Password Protection for your documents
To lock a document, tap on the context menu for the document in the library view and set a password. Anytime you try to open, export, duplicate, or delete the document, Goodnotes will ask you for the set password. If you’re using a device that supports FaceID or TouchID, you can use these instead of your password to unlock a document. Please note that you can have only one password that will apply to all locked notebooks and that Password Protection is only available in Goodnotes 6. Learn more
Update to version 6.4.2 in App Store to use Password Protection.

UNBELIEVABLE! Just because of the lack of this simple and basic feature, I am seriously considering switching to Notability even though I’ve stored hundreds of notes in this app. There are so many sensitive and secretive subjects to write on but all that is drawn back just because of this reluctant fact that any of my friends or families can happen to get across to my top secret informations and thoughts when they are browsing my iPad. It’s not a hard function to add please do it for the sake of our mental safety

To be honest, I am really thinking that Goodnotes truly does not care about anything we post, the M1 Macbook app is just about useless, and despite almost daily updates, the most critical aspects are still not addressed... Goodnotes needs to be open about the future of the app, it is starting to resemble a scam...

I am going to start shopping for another note taking app unless you figure out the password protection. This has gone on too long...please provide us with a target release!

Guys, please stop ignoring all the users' pleas regarding the implementation of password-protected notes feature on your app. Should not be so difficult to do in 2022...

This is a very basic feature for a note taking app, yet almost 10! years later, it still isn't implemented yet. What are you guys doin?

I don’t know why y’all continue hoping GoodNotes will add password protection. How many years are you going to wait before you switch to another app? If you want to password protect your notes or your folders, use a different app. Period. The company’s continued refusal to let you password protect your notes should be a HUGE red flag to all of you. It’s unfortunate. It’s a great app but the ongoing refusal to add security measures is mind-boggling in this day and age. Be careful with what you put in the app.

Nearly 10 years and nothing done? Date protection should be at the top of the top issues for every software developer.
So go for it! -

This has been sitting here for almost 10 uears and it hasn’t been implemented? How could securing sensitive data you might include in GoodNotes not be a thing without us asking for it?

I really can’t use GoodNotes 5 until there is password protection at the app level and folder level.
If I have to continue using my current note system (MS OneNote) to store sensitive information, I might as well use it for everything else.
You know, Notability has a password/FaceId feature.

This really should be a feature. Not too difficult to implement.

Password protection is a normal thing and they should enable this feature. If they enable this feature then I will protect my website (https://www.processfusion.com/en) data by using goodnotes.

Plus it would be great if the protection can be cut off from the touch id/ face id/ iPhone passcode. Just a separate password exclusively set up for goodnotes. Imagine someone knows your iPhone passcode and they can simply go to setting and secretly add their face or fingerprint to unlock every app that seemingly provides another layer of protection but in fact quite useless. Thanks!!!

Honestly shocked as to how this has not yet become a feature after nearly 10 years.

This idea is almost ten y ears old, with more than 6k votes. How has this failed to achieve liftoff?
Notability had basically GIVEN you the opportunity to seize the upper hand on this issue by failing to allow unique passwords for folders. Goodnotes needs to implement the ability to create unique passwords for folders.

Why in the world is this not be a feature yet?!!

When are you going to include this future?

I would buy GoodNotes immediately if they include a password for certain folders: journals, and other information I want to keep private.
