Layer
Allow users to put comments on different layers. It would be helpful if these could be turned on/ off, or have their transparency % adjusted like in the Photoshop Touch application. Selecting annotations on one layer only or locking others would be useful as well.

Hello, I work as a civil engineer (Bouygues Construction) and Iām using the app everyday.
Iām trying for my hierarchy to buy into it for everyone of my colleagues.
The only thing missing to make it perfect for annotation and Construction follow up is the use of layers.
It would help to have one layer per company, thus having only ONE document for everything and everyone which could revolutionise the way our company and others work. -

Use a different program because I got tired of moving elements that I didnāt wonāt to move. Loved Goodnotes, but just couldnāt deal with the problems with grabbing items that I didnāt want to move.

Please allow us to have options to send things forward and backwards. It would be extremely useful.
For example, when you first write some text, and then you want to put a sticker or element underneath it. To do this, you insert the sticker or element but it goes above your text awkwardly (since layers are automatically done chronologically). To send the bubble back, you really don't have an option to, so you can either rewrite the text or move the bubble away and use the lasso tool to copy and paste ur text so it is moved to the top layer. -

Layers would be incredibly helpful. I annotate scripts and there are different overlays that need to be present and then sent to different people; not everyone needs all the same information at the same time. Being able to work with layers (that I can then name) would be a game changer! Especially if you continue to improve the āsharedā document function.

I suggest adding a layer function to GoodsNotes, which is more convenient for users to perform multiple painting operations on the same picture

Goodnotes, can you address this? There are so many apps like Canva that do this. The lack of these options makes it hard to design pages.

In my opinion, Goodnotes 5 is almost perfect and far ahead of other notes apps. The main area that it needs improvement is in the ability to draw diagrams that are organized and clean without taking ages to do it. This problem could be easily solved using layers and a fill tool. While some have suggested that a simple āfront to backā or āback to frontā layering system would suffice, a comprehensive layering system in which each layer is treated as a separate document layered on top of or underneath another would allow for complex anatomical diagrams like I use for med school or just simply creating flow charts. Second, the current āfill colorā option for shapes needs a lot of work. While it is nice to have certain shapes automatically fill, there is currently no way to change the opacity of the fill. Second, it would be great if there was a better way to fill shapes manually, similar to Microsoft Paintās bucket tool.

GoodNotes 5 is single-handedly my most used iPad app. It is the BEST for note taking. But, it falls short when it comes to drawing sketches for my notes. Other note taking apps, like notability, also have issues when it comes to sketching notes.
Drawing a diagram of the layers of the skin, or the cores of the Earth, is time consuming and overly difficult. I like to test out many different custom colors from the color wheel to get the right colors, and unless you save every single custom color you make, thereās no chance youāre getting that color back without trying to recreate that color. Itās also quite annoying to have a bunch of random colors in your pen color section when youāll only use those once for that one diagram. It would be amazing if we could actually pick custom colors from an eye dropper tool. This would solve so many problems I and many other people face.
I also find myself constantly making mistakes while drawing (Iām not an arts major, after all) and needing to erase things. Unfortunately, in GN5 there is no way to layer text, images, or even different pens/drawings. It would be dope if we could layer different items on top of each other. What would be even better on top of that is the ability to lasso an area and have an option to see ālayers,ā and if we clicked on that, we would be able to see the different layers of each object present in that space, isolate them (to delete them, erase specific parts, etc.), or change their layer position.
I know these are big asks and are likely complicated to implement, but I do think these would significantly improve the userās quality of life and put GoodNotes 5 at an advantage over its competition.

It would be nice if you could lock elements on the page so you do not move them by mistake. blah, you will easily move a widget when you have to write on top of it

With the number of people requesting this, including myself, the developers should make this a priority. Your competition already has this feature and the send back and bring forward features. These are extremely useful features to have.
