Allow the deletion of highlighter, leaving text intact.
Having highlighted some hand-written notes, the eraser will delete both the highlight and the text. Please give an option for the eraser to delete only the highlight, leaving the notes "underneath" intact.
In GoodNotes 5, the eraser can be set to “erase highlighter only”. Tap and hold on the eraser icon to access the settings.
Don’t forget to deactivate it afterward to also erase regular ink strokes again.

Not to look a “gift horse I’m the mouth” but though this has been addressed, it’s not like in Notability, where you can erase the highlight without having to change a setting each time. The Eraser automatically recognizes there’s highlight and erases it.

I only have the option 'Auto-Deselect' and 'Erase Entire Stroke'.

This would indeed be very useful. An idea would be that if using a white paper the white highlighter erased other highlight colours (eg. yellow, orange...). It would however be more convenient to have layers...

Hmm, im thinking it would be nicer if GoodNotes had layers, then you could draw highlighter on the top layer, and have the hand-writing on the bottom layer...
Then you could decide if you want to erase on all layers or choose a specific layer to erase from. -

A workaround...you can use the lasso to select the highlight and move it away from the text and then erase it. Not elegant but it works.

I think the new "erase whole line" option can do that: select said option and then touch with the eraser any part of the highlight. It will dissapear leaving the writing uncovered. So far, it has worked for me.
