when you duplicate a file, append _copy instead of prepending "Copy of"
this will keep the new file next to the original when sorted by Name

...or just append "copy" (no underscore). This is the Apple MacOS convention, and has always been much more convenient than the prepend "Copy of" insertion in some other environments.
Presumably many other Goodnotes users who teach do what I do every day: Import a PDF (e.g a notes template or problem set) then duplicate it once for each class section so that I can have a record of what I've done with that class (and can export for students who were absent). In a folder holding more than a few notebooks, that's a lot of scrolling around to locate and rename the duplicate notebooks.
