force sync
Provide a force-sync option
When the iCloud sync isn't working, we are stuck waiting for the app itself to recognize that the files are not in sync, a force sync option where we can manually cause the app to sync would be incredibly helpful (like the OneNote option). That way we aren't waiting for the app to recognize, which sometimes requires quitting the whole app and reopening, instead we can just tell the app when we want it to sync in addition to automatically.

We need this option! Working between multiple devices is so frustrating

Voting. Please add this. It's a pain trying to get files to sync between devices. I do most on the Mac and then want like to draw on the iPad. A quick sync would be very helpfu.

Hi goodnotes team
The issue I'm encountering is related to the synchronization speed between my Mac and iPad devices. While I understand that iCloud synchronization is meant to ensure seamless file updates across devices, I have noticed that the synchronization process can sometimes take longer than desired. This delay becomes particularly problematic when I need to edit a file on my iPad and then continue working on the same file using my Mac. The potential for conflicts arising due to the asynchronous synchronization can lead to data discrepancies and inconsistencies. To address this concern, I would like to propose a feature enhancement. Could you consider implementing a manual synchronization option within the GoodNotes app? Similar to the approach used in the Anki app, having a dedicated "Sync" button that users can press when they've finished their work on a device would provide a higher level of control over synchronization. This would allow users to ensure that all changes have been accurately updated across all devices before moving on to another device. This manual sync option would complement the existing automatic iCloud synchronization and offer users the flexibility to manage synchronization in a way that best suits their workflow.

Yes, please add a Sync button! I'm working between Mac & iPad and the sync time is very inconsistent.

Found this forum because I encountered a similar problem to everyone else. My recommendation would be to put an asterisk or something on a folder you want to keep as the new version, so you can tell the difference between them. The new version will update, and then you can delete the old version and rename back to what you want. ... I appreciate Gwala & Erik's comment about emptying the trash... mange tak!

As Gwala Gwili wrote.
1. Cleared my trash bin on both devices (laptop and Ipad), found under settings the gearbox symbol.
2. Restart of Goodnotes on both devices--> and the sync started working again :D
Hope it helps. -

PLEASE ADD A MANUAL SYNC OPTION FOR PEOPLE WHO USE MULTIPLE DEVICES. LITERALLY THE ONLY UPDATE I HAVE BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR. SO FRUSTRATING WHEN YOU SWITCH BETWEEN DEVICES AND IT DOESNT SYNC!!!!

I was able to force sync today by disconnecting the two devices I needed to sync from the internet and then reconnecting them. Hope this helps someone!

I moved to goodnotes because one note had issues with printing the pages and goodnotes has software that better accomodates handwritten notes, but a lack of being able to sync between mac and ipad is bordering a deal breaker - i need to be able to type quickly during lectures, but being unable to switch to handwriting for maths and graphs is awful. Either a live sync, or at LEAST an ability to force sync is needed.

Apparently, I solved my synch delays by emptying my GoodNotes trash. I had many files.

how is this not a thing still? i would have thought this would be an absolutely basic function - for goodness sake we had force fetch on windows mail even back in 2009 surely this is a fairly straightforward fix to implement as so many users switch between mac/ipad

I swap beteen iPad and Mac, "force sync" is a must.

I am waiting for the day we get a force sync option!! It's my only lasting complaint because I also move from device to device a lot and it gets annoying when I need the page I just worked on to sync.
I will say sometimes the sync is amazing and it shows up almost immediately, but I would like it to do that all the time. -

I'm surprised this is still not a feature since this post is from 2020. Would be extremely helpful since I am constantly switching between devices and would like the ability to trigger a sync so the content is up to date when I need it to be. Unfortunately, it still doesn't always sync when I quit the app on both devices I use GoodNotes on. Will try the suggested workaround posted below.

Anyway, I've discovered a workaround: just disable and re-enable the flag Use iCloud in "Main Goodnotes Screen/Settings/iCloud Settings". In this way nothing disappear and you trigger a sync...
But a force sync button or something is a really good enhance to introduce -
