Return to current notebook from Documents view
Here is a common inconvenience: I am writing in a notebook. I hit the "<" icon in the top left and enter the "Documents" view where I can see all the folder structure. From here, there is no easy way to return to the notebook view - I must open a notebook or create a new one just to get back to my current notebook to carry on writing.
This is a particularly annoying problem when your position in the folder hierarchy in the "Documents" view does not contain your current notebook. Then you have to open a notebook you don't even want to edit, just to get back to the notebooks view, then close the tab on this new notebook you opened.
It's very clunky.
Suggestion: along the bottom of the page in the "Documents" view you have four buttons: "Documents", "Search", "Shared", "Favourites" (I never use these buttons). Please add another called e.g. "View open notebooks" or "Desktop" or something similar. Alternatively, in the top right in the "Documents" view you have two buttons: the check mark button and the settings button - there is space there for another button that would take you back to the editing notebooks view.
Thanks for the suggestion. You can open the “Search” tab and find a list of recently opened documents. Tab on one of these documents to open them again.

This should still be implemented. Very annoying to open another document to see the open documents

I've used goodnotes for a while now in college and this annoys me every day. You would think for an app focused around taking notes that it would be a simple tap of a button to get back to your document view. It should be a tab at the bottom. Before I discovered this workaround I would have to navigate through my folders to find the same document or open a new one. I've never used the search feature before, because I have my notes organized in folders like a normal person.

This should not be marked as completed, This should be a simple "back" button or similar. Currently, in documents view, we have to swipe to view the sidebar, then search, then find a recent document. That's not conducive to staying in a flow. Please fix this asap.

I agree wholeheartedly with this suggested feature and echo the other comments here. There are still calls for this UI improvement in Reddit forums and elsewhere. It would be such an easy fix to a frequent annoyance. Apparently Goodnotes considers this request to be "completed" due to the Search workaround, but I (and other users, it would seem) beg to differ.

Why not add "Open Docs" to the bottom menu bar in Goodnotes? It seems odd to have to go to Search to return to the tabbed view of open documents

I second this. I’m really surprised there isn’t a more elegant way of doing this. It’s a great app but this omission is incredibly clunky. It’s something that annoys me almost daily when using GoodNotes.
