Set a Default Font
It would be efficient and productive to be able to set a default font. Perhaps there is a way and I don’t know how to navigate it yet. But right now, every time I use the text box, and while I’ve already changed the font, it will default back to Helvetica Neue. Not a bad font, I just have work & schoolwork that requires a different font. It would be nice to just pick that font and stay until I decide otherwise.

You can already save the current text box style as your default. Have a look at this article on how to do it: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000629696-Typing-text-with-the-Text-tool

I’m currently using GoodNotes 7.0.1. Since the upgrade from GoodNotes 6, the font that was active at the time of the upgrade has become permanently stuck as the default for every new text box. There is no way to reset or change this default anymore.
This is a general issue: whatever font you had selected in GoodNotes 6 (Times New Roman, Arial, etc.) is now locked in as the default in GoodNotes 7. In my case it’s even worse, because it happened to be a custom fantasy font, which makes the problem especially impractical.
Please restore the ability to set and save a new default font, or at least add an option to reset the default. This should be treated as a top priority, since it affects all users and seriously disrupts the workflow.

I'm currently using Goodnotes 7.0.0 on macOS Sequoia 15.6.1, and I just updated Goodnotes yesterday.
Since the update, even though I’ve set Arial as the default font (with blue color and 10pt size), every time I start typing on a new page, the text defaults to:
Modern font
24pt size
Black colorI have to manually change the font every time I start typing on a new page. I’ve already tried restarting both Goodnotes and my Mac, and even reinstalled Goodnotes, but the issue still persists.
After some testing, I discovered the problem seems related to typing in different languages:
When I set the default font to Arial, then type in Japanese or Chinese, the font switches back to the system default (not my custom default).
This behavior did not happen before the update. Is anyone else facing the same issue? Any idea how to fix this?
Please help—it's really affecting my workflow. Thanks!

Great points on enhancing Goodnotes usability across devices! I think features like better offline sync and customizable templates could really boost productivity for students and professionals. On a similar note, I’ve explored how intuitive design can impact user experience in other apps too — you can check out my thoughts here: https://3patti-blue.pk/

It’s true that having fonts and colors makes text stand out and makes keywords much easier to grasp. Thankfully, Goodnotes has updated this feature as well. https://candyclicker.io

I’m experiencing this issue on GoodNotes 6 (latest version) running on iPadOS 18.5.
I save “楷体 + Bold” as my favorite/default font, but every new text box reverts to standard (non-bold) font.
It used to work before, but now it always resets. It’s really disrupting my note-taking workflow. Please help. -

Don't you think fixed fonts are a bit boring, if you think the same way as me try this: https://letras-bonitas.io/

Is there a way to change and set a default font using the typing function (the one allowing to type text on the entire page with titles and paragraph and to have the text continuing on the next page) ? I use it more than text boxes, and I would like to change the font.

I was wondering if there is a way to set the default text different for different documents. Example one has set at 25 a different document has it set at 35. That way when it is opened it is always set at what I want

I am currently running Goodnotes on my MacBook - Ventura OS 13.4.1. A few weeks ago, Goodnotes had an update, which I installed. Since that time, I can only get the text in every textbox to be Helvetica. I have tried everything I can think of (restarting Goodnotes, choosing another standard font like Arial or Verdana, making a new page), but as soon as I open a textbox and choose another font, it goes back to Helvetica. I don't even have the option of saving anything else to a default text setting.
Help!

It would greatly enhance efficiency and productivity if there was a feature to set a default font in the text box. Although it is possible that such an option exists and I am unaware of how to access it, currently, every time I use the text box, it reverts back to the default font of Helvetica Neue. While it is a decent font, I often need to use a different font for my work and school assignments. It would be highly beneficial to be able to select a preferred font and have it remain as the default until I choose to change it on https://asmallworldcup.com

Setting the above default cannot solve the issue that changed fonts changed back Helvetica.
Any effective solution available?

Except it doesn't work. I can save a favourite font, but the next text box I create defaults to Helvetica Neue 24 and the favourite box is greyed out.

Hi
The saved style won’t apply when pasting in GoodNotes. Like when I’m dragging and dropping a text into GoodNotes -

In landscape mode there’s an icon that has a t and a blue heart on it. It allows you to favorite it/default type. Hope that helps!
I wish they include more favorite font options/text box favorites
