I’m a scientist and wanted to be able to trade a list of document titles, sizes, and dates with a colleague so we could be sure we were working from the same source documents.

Academic publishing is often paywalled. If you need access to a document and you don’t have access to the journal, it’s accepted that you’ll fire off an email for a copy, and not publicly share it, so two folks from different institutions may not have access to the same journals.

So we need title, origin date, last date changed, and file size, preferably in both Numbers and Excel formats, and plain text version.
