Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

In GoodNotes 4 there was a function where you could go back to the previous page you were on, I was hoping you could have an update where that function was available. It would be extremely helpful because I hit the top of GoodNotes accedently all the time when i am editing and then it takes me to the first page and I would like to just go back to the page I was editing instead of having to search for the page by keyword or try to remember the page number.

Ich würde es sehr gut finden, dass ein Schreiben mit der Tastatur direkt auf den Linien möglich wäre und man nicht immer die einzelnen Texte anpassen muss damit es auf den Linien passt. Vielen Dank!

2 pages side-by-side for sure. I’m looking for different app options until this adds a side-by-side feature.

Before it was possible to have the folder sorted by name and the files sorted by date.
It was a nice and convenient way to navigate into folders and files, it was fast !
Now it’s either date or name for both folders and files :-( -

Why importing doesn’t open document anymore? Doesn’t make sense to me
When importing multiple documents it’s no more possible to import in a new document and in the same folder as the one previously imported (there was a shortcut « import in a new document » automatically linked to the previous import folder, that was smart !
Worst, an imported file isn’t listed as recent, its ignored by the history of files
(To find it, one must set display to name, not date and remember the path...) -

Love GoodNotes. Showed it off to our office and demonstrated how precisely it works with ApplePencil 2 by taking notes on job applications. Everyone was all in -- UNTIL it came time to share PDFs by email -- the file size was enormous precluding any reasonable effort to easily email the PDFs to the rest of the team. Look forward to having an option to compress files. Thanks!

Absolutely. 2 Pages Side-by-Side view is a MUST for educational purposes! (left: Book page,; right: Notetaking)

Have two notes open in split screen. This would allow for transcribing previous notes into a finalized document and planning the day based on notes of earlier meetings for increased productivity.
OR: Invent an entirely new class of notes which are time sensitive. Eg.: yesterdays/last weeks etc. notes gray out (when ‘time machine mode’ is toggled) unless edited/touched. When this mode is toggled off again, everything that hasn’t been updated gets deleted and the new spaces are filled in with the edited/new content automatically
