We’re optimizing the ink algorithm continuously and haven’t heard many complaints about the smoothness in recent times so we’d like to take a closer look at your case. We’re investigating the battery drain that happens for some users already.
You can do this with the lasso tool. Circle the text you want to change the color or, select 'color' on the the menu brought up when using the tool, then choose the new color you want.
