In GoodNotes 5 we implemented the option to create infinite subfolders to replace the concept of “categories” in GoodNotes 4. Consider using multiple documents in a subfolders instead of adding everything to one notebook. If you want to further divide your notebook internally, you can use bookmarks or custom outlines to label your pages.
An error occurred while saving the comment Venom commentedGoodNotes’ response, suggesting subfolders and outlines, is practical but not entirely aligned with the original ask. Users who request subfolders within notebooks are probably trying to mirror the experience of flipping through a tabbed binder, where sections (or subfolders) are part of a single cohesive document—not scattered across multiple files.
That said, GoodNotes does offer some compelling alternatives, like custom outlines, bookmarks, and the infinite subfolder system. But the suggestion itself raises an interesting question: Are we asking for subfolders because it’s the most intuitive solution, or because that’s what we’re used to?
Ultimately, this boils down to personal preference, but wouldn’t it be great if apps like GoodNotes could let us https://www.ingresosolidario.com.co choose between "document-first" vs. "notebook-first" organization styles?
