As a digital organizer user on GoodNotes, manual sync (e.g. "write it down by hand from your digital calendar") is the MAIN reason I stopped using GoodNotes (or any other pen/iPad app). I wanted the comfort of pen and "paper", but planning my day as a creative exercise and then having to go through "meat space" (into my head, back to the computer) doubled the time and effort to manage my calendar in a meaningful way.
The best way to do this, hands down, would be:
- highlight text
- indicate/discover that it's a date/event description
- allow "sync to calendar" (iOS and Google)
- have a calendar button at the top named "sync dates"
- on click of sync dates button, update tagged text with changes in digital calendars, if any have happened
This would allow me to write a note, type at the top of it "lunch with Amy, 12pm Tuesday", highlight that and tag it as a datestamp into my calendar.
On Tuesday, I go to my lunch, and in the calendar app the text there says something like "goodnotes://<link to tag in goodnotes>", I click that and presto, I have my written notes related to my lunch with Amy, ready to go with room to capture more.
