Hi Goodnotes Developers - in addition to this suggestion being a great idea, it would be a great potential source of additional revenue for the Goodnotes developers, if that was of interest.
There's no reason that Goodnotes needs to limit its TAM (Total Addressable Market) to just note-taking apps. According to Readdle, PDF Expert has been "used by 30 million users worldwide". Readdle charges $80 / year for their premium plan for PDF Expert. Even though Goodnotes has had a bumpy ride with its UI recently, I'm sure most people would agree that Goodnotes' UX is still far superior to PDF Experts'. For myself, I'd love to be able to use Goodnotes' editing for PDFs - and I've been wanting to do so for many years.
So it seems that Goodnotes is leaving a lot of money on the table by not introducing this as a feature. It could be a potential revenue stream (by way of a one-off additional payment, or an additional pricing tier) or – and this would be nice – free! iPad users now understand how to use the stock iOS Files app to open files (although I use FileBrower Pro). So many users would be able edit pdfs directly within Goodnotes without having to import them. See the attached video to show how easy this is to do in PDF Expert.
Even though this suggestion has very few votes, I'm sure that it would be very popular; once people found that they only needed Goodnotes, instead of Goodnotes + PDF Expert – and the financial savings. I'm no programmer, but it seems like you've already done all the hard work for the UI etc. and all that would be required is some file management to edit files directly.
Anyway, I hope you consider this feature and all the best.
