Add 2 and 3 finger tap shortcuts for undo and redo like Procreate
Using the Apple pencil is really cool, but I find that undoing and redoing is really annoying using the toolbar at the top. Having a feature like in Procreate to undo with a 2 finder tap and redo with a 3 finger tap would make taking notes much more fluid.
GoodNotes 5.1 is now available and adds gesture control for undo & redo.
- two-finger double-tap for undo
- three-finger double-tap for redo
You can read more about it here: https://medium.goodnotes.com/goodnotes-5-1-adds-gesture-control-for-undo-redo-2dc7db3a87b6

agree single tap. For this and the lack of support for bullets and indenting in the text tool, I switched to Notability. :(

Adding my vote for one-tap.
Please.
One tap.
- 2 taps is not equal to 1 tap. It is 2x the effort + a gesture that requires correct timing. Every time.
- My experience in other "pencil-first" apps is it's easier to correct an accidental undo with one tap than it is to undo a mistake with 2 taps. It rarely happens and when it does it's when I'm undoing multiple steps and go a step or 2 too far.
- Like others I single-tap all the time expecting this app to behave like others. I revert to using the icon, or lately, looking for an alternative. I really like GoodNotes. It's amazing. And "undo" is a core feature that needs to work.
- I undo a lot. I make lots of mistakes, changes, etc.

Please re-open this until the feature is fixed with one-tap. If I need to undo 10 strokes, I have to tap the screen 20 times. It's maddening and the opposite of intuitive, and I just use the undo button instead. Implementing this with a double-tap is the same to me as not implementing it at all.

This is great, but most of the time I want to undo a lot of things as once. Double tapping with two fingers is quite slow and kind of kills my flow when writing. If you could consider just a singular tap with two fingers for a different update, that’d be great.

PLEASE CHANGE
I understand it works for some users so please offer the option to switch feature on and off.this Feature not only doesn’t work but strongly disturbs my normal writing. Laying my hand on the screen is taken as a double tap and writing is undone before i realise and have continued writing so i can’t redo it. Redo doesnt work at all.
So my work just disappears randomly -

just bought the app, this is the first thing I searched. tried looking for it in settings but didn't found it. hope it will be released in the next update. two-finger single tap for 1 undo - it's only logical 🖖

This is so frustrating. It's almost great, but ends up being almost unusable. I often want to quickly undo a certain number of steps, and find that the double-tap is not responsive in the way I'd like. Please allow SINGLE two finger tap undo!

I don't understand why don't you just allow the user to decide the number of taps. I have to usually make 2 undos on a row, which means 4 taps when I just need 2 on apps like procreate, and I never undo by mistake so... why? This is killing my screen!

I would like to add my voice to the users who have requested an option to set undo as a single 2 finger tap. I find myself using this so often that I frequently need to tap the screen 6 or 8 times and its quite frustrating. Perhaps there is a halfway point that after the first double tap in an extended sequence you only need 1 tap per undo but just an option to toggle it to single tap would be great.
If it turns out people indeed trigger it accidentally then we always have the option to change back.. Perhaps run a survey after having it available for a while to see if people switching to single 2 finger tap go back to double 2 finger tap.

It is a great change, thanks!!!
One more little suggestion, I usually write in other language than english and it's very common that I wrote a lot "steps" than I want to redo, like I wrote a wrong word with 6 alphabets and I want redo, i have to tap *12 times*! It's against your design purpose of conveniencing users, right?
Since you're not putting eraser button on the zoom view, why not allow user to choose whether their gesture is to undo/redo or simply toggle tools like eraser? That would save my day!Cheers!

Its a good change, but i guess we want the familiarity of other drawing apps, and changing it into double tap instead of single tap kind of annoyingly defeating the purpose. Can you make it user assignable through settings?

Thanks a lot for this change.
But might I ask you why you simply don't let the user decide if he wants to double-tap or single-tap? You could have just allowed for that to be configured in the settings… I'm puzzled. -

2- and 3-finger tap has become so common in other drawing/design apps that I’m _constantly_ doing it in Goodnotes, to no avail! With the second Pencil it’s easier to switch to the eraser with a tap. But my iPad mini can only use the older Pencil, so it would be great to be able to use the (now) standard undo/redo gesture rather than constantly reaching for a tiny button.

YES PLEASEEEEEEEEEE =)
It's so unnatural for me to use the app because I make a lot of mistakes.

+1 for this.

I agree with this idea. I use a lot of art apps and they almost all have two finger tap to undo. It's an intuitive feature of them, but missing here which trips me up when I'm working with the app.
