When highlighter overlaps don't darken the overlapped area
Have an option in the highlighter options section to either be darker in the overlapped areas or not to darken the overlapped areas (consistant shade).
You will blow Notability out of the water once your upcoming additions are implemented!
It's already a top 5 app that makes the 12.9" iPad useful. Thanks!

Yes please do this! I'm. considering using procreate or another app because this is a function I need to use everyday...

I would really like this, annotating stuff is really annoying when it just overlaps

It is highly annoying that the highlight overlaps it makes I very difficult to draw diagrams for my school notes. It would be highly appreciated for it to become an option to turn off the overlap.

There should be an option if one wants the highlights to layer or not.

Add paint bucket tool. Or at least make a toggle to on or off the highlights overlapping. It's difficult to color a diagram without lifting the pencil to avoid unnecessary color overlapping. This is digital note taking app, so stop trying to simulate like highlighting on real paper. Be a digital highlighter for god sake or provide us with the toggle to on/off the overlapping highlighter effect.

We need a paint bucket tool/paintbrush tool to fill in shapes or color something in without that ANNOYING overlap!

I agree with this idea, please add this feature! I love the app but the highlighter overlap is something i would like to turn off somehow.

I think this is massive. Because your yellow highlighter only marginally builds up colour, it appears to mostly be even colour, even when it is drawn over. This massively helps. It means that the text underneath is highlighted, rather than colour variations in the highlighter colour. Your other highlighter colours don’t really do this though. The buildup of colour is very obvious when you draw over them again. It would be much better if there was an option to keep the colour the same in the highlighter options for ALL the highlighter colours. Currently yellow does it almost by accident, and as a result it blows notability out of the water, because yellow is the colour most people use. But it now annoys me when I use any other highlighter colour in GoodNotes. It seems like a massive oversight to me, because highlighters are a massive part of note taking, and this really is a fundamental option, to control how colour shows over text. Really should be implemented as a priority. It amazes me honestly that you can reach version 5 without this option?

Also, I think that we should be able to choose whether the highlighter always goes in front of the text or not. For example, if I am using the darker template, and am writing in white, when I go to highlight the white becomes tinted with the color of the highlighter, rather than just the page color changing.

I agree this would make working with the highlighter tool infinitely better and less frustrating.

This would be amazing! I hate having to fill in an area of my digital planner or school notes all in one stroke. And if you mess up you have to go it all over again. If I could Just color in an area without the darkening my life would be so much easier.
The update allows for shape filling and the undo button will delete the drawn line and leave the fill area, which is close. But I don't get to pick the fill color or create anything other than a shape. That's really annoying.Thank you for this suggestion and picture example.

Here's an image to visualize what we are talking about.
Please, please add this as a feature! It would make usage of goodnotes so much easier, and allow me to do so many more nice diagrams without fuss.

I would also love to see this implemented. I use Goodnotes for UI sketching, and use the workaround of never taking my Apple Pencil off the screen to ensure one area isn't darker than another.
It would be great to have an option to toggle highlight overlapping. That way I can just keep highlighting on the same "Layer" and not worry about picking my pencil up to highlight different areas.

Please yes. This is something I wish for on a daily basis. I have thousands of pages of diagrams and sketches in Goodnotes, and I often use the highlighter for grey shading to convey a 3D shape.
Currently, I have to carefully draw the entire structure in one go, without raising the pen, because if add 2 highighter strokes together it shows much darker where they overlap.
Having to draw an entire shape in one go is much harder and more time consuming than being able to draw it in multiple tries.
Having an option of whether to 'stack' or 'merge' highlighter strokes would be a godsend. Please add this!

This feature will enable coloring of shapes with marker. Simple feature, but can open up new possibilities. And I am surprised most apps dont have it yet.
