I’m a longtime user and really love the flexibility of handwriting in the app. One feature I keep wishing for—especially when working on complex study notes or sketching diagrams—is the ability to create and toggle between layers, similar to how it's done in drawing apps like Procreate.

Specifically, I’d love to:

Create multiple handwriting layers within a single page

Hide/show layers to focus on different content (e.g. lecture notes vs. personal annotations)

Reorder or lock layers to prevent accidental edits

Is anything like this currently in development or being considered? Would love to hear if others would find this useful too!

Please add this feature. A lot of people are leaving Goodnotes because it is frustrating to not be able to work without images or text being moved around. We need the ability to lock layers, text, and images.

Please add this feature. A lot of people are leaving good notes because it is so frustrating for new users. It takes a very long time to create a document or to even plan because you can’t lock stickers or layers or words.

Love GoodNotes 6 for journaling! Please add layering, lock/unlock, and group/ungroup. Layers to stack/reorder images and stickers, lock/unlock to stop accidental moves, and group/ungroup to move multiple elements together. These would make planning and creative work smoother. Layers are critical in digital note taking. You’d get more subscribers if this feature was available.

So we can know what page we want to delete as well as the organization of moving pages around as well as the ability to know where the next page will appear if i add it before or after the current page.

I’d love to have this for musical score study. I could do harmonic analysis on one layer, thematic analysis on another, and notes for performance on another… so it’s not just useful for drawing!

Why the developer take very long time just to add lock image and layers? I love goodnote, paid for it, but now I am considering to move to other app if goodnote doesnt add and fix this situation

I started using Noteful because they had this feature! It is such a game changer when doing digital planning. Please add this as soon as possible, would love to come back and use Goodnotes, but those layers are a necessity. With the ability to add as many layers as we want, rename them, lock them, and unlock, and hide or unhide.

This is the one reason I also have Noteful on my iPad. When I’m marking up pdf drawings and diagrams for work, or home improvements, this is essential. I would be able to do _everything_ in Goodnotes if this feature was added.

Layers in GoodNotes would be the biggest game changer for me and many. I use GoodNotes for purposes even beyond notes- drawing/sketching/music engraving even. Layers would speed up and enhance my process sooo much. Please :))

Please make this a thing!

1) Make curves with more than 3 points because I like to make vector drawings and it’s really hard to make a variety of curves when limited to 3 points

2) Add a grouping feature which allowed you to move sections instead of the individual components more easily

3) Adding some version of editable layers would make creating images and diagrams easier instead of doing “move to front” or “move to back”

Yes! If Goodnotes could lock images it would be perfect! Right now using pictures as a background is a pain.

The lack of this feature is causing me to consider other apps. I have been asking for this for 3+ years: REAL layers and LOCKING layers.
