Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

second that! it would be nice to have two pages side by side in several possible combinations: just see the previous or next page of the same notebook that you are working in, or open a different notebook or pdf next to the page you are writing on.

There should be a possibility to lock individual objects, like lines and forms, thus protecting them from being erased by the eraser tool. You could simply add this function to the pop up menu that appears when you select an object with the lasso tool. That way, you could, for instance draw a table, lock its frame and then fill it in. When you want to remove the cintent yiu can just brush over the table with the eraser tool and and all the text will disappear, leaving the empty table to be filled out once more.
I'd love to use this for studying. Sometimes I have to memorise complex diagrams and this would be an elegant way to to this. -

YES! I actually import the PDF of the passion planner into here and would love to look at the entire week (or month calendar) at one time (which requires two documents side by side). It would be great if we could view this like a notebook with a right/left half rather than single pages. This is pretty much the only thing I find lacking in the app!

I'm a musician, and since the early days music has always been written with parts fitting on 2 pages or at least page turns considered every 2 pages. Please implement this so that it is possible to read without using a Bluetooth Pedal turner!

Since the voice recognition microphone on the keyboard is so accurate, I often find it faster to create hierarchical lists by speaking rather than handwriting. using the microphone is also much faster for jotting down direct quotes from texts that I am reading/digesting. for these reasons, I find myself really wishing for some improvements to how I can format text.
I would like to be able to indent text (and 'out dent' text). And I would like to be able to create a paragraph format such as having the wrapped text indent even further to right than the first line of the paragraph.
And I would like to have option to have more space between paragraphs than the space between the wrapped continuation of the paragraph.
(these are basic features of apps like Pages)

I like to recopy my notes and it would be a lot easier to do so if I could add a page and see my original notes at the same time.

I second that request!

What really would be a great addition to this is if the text written, could snap to the lines of the paper it is used in. What I now frequently encounter is that I have beautifully handwritten my notes on the paper lines, but when I select text, it goes right through them in long sentences that need more than one line.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. We plan to implement better rich text editing functions with in future updates, but don't have a time frame yet.

I am really missing the possibility to view two documents side by side on my ipad. I can read the one document and write in my other. The other possibility I really would like is to move the page from one to the other document.
In real life I tend to make a quick not and than later have to move it to a different note book. This is takes up a lot of time to realize.
Thanks for considering the change. I like the app a lot and have not encountered any better app than this one. Daily use!!

Text input with a keyboard should be selectable as the default input method and automatically switch to pen as soon as a pen touches the display.
Each page should have by default a (invisible) text box from top to bottom - like in ordinary word processing apps. Once typing is coming to the bottom of the page a new page should automatically created and continued on the new page.
P.S.: Pen input is great. I love it. But you definitely need to improve keyboard input - I regularly switch between both.

Agree 100%. Being able to have 2 documents open side by side would be enormously helpful for work flow.

It would be nice to have labels and stickers as well, similar to what is in Noteledge app. When you are planning a trip or creating a Travel log, stickers and labels will make if more colorful and fun. Another feature that is in Noteledge app is inserting or recording a video. Also they have in-app browser where you can search for pictures and crop out sections you want and place it in the app which is very cool. If you think my idea is going to be a great addition please vote for my idea "Insert Videos, Stickers, Internet Cropping tool"

I have noticed that I cannot access my notes or notebooks when I'm offline. I think it would be highly useful to have the option to have certain notes or notebooks to be accessible offline by having them stored on the device as well as on cloud. I use Goodnotes heavily...it has replaced my everyday notebooks, pen and paper literally 100%. I also use it while I'm teaching instead of using a conventional whiteboard as I can send the notes back to my students after the class. Thank you for such a great app. Keep up the very good work.
