Implement a splitscreen option.
The splitscreens option allows the user to see two pages of one document at once. With this option the user can open an informative pdf on the one side while taking notes on a different sheet on the other side.
We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the tab-bar
You can also use the buttons in the library action menu or from the tab-bar to open a new window.

Please add a function where two or more people can have a shared document that reflect the changes each person makes without having to download, upload, or email it back and forth between changes (similar to the way Google Drive works on shared documents). For example, I'm a teacher, so I would like to share a document with a student, have the student annotate the document, go into my app and see the edits made by the student, and then grade the assignment using annotation right on the same document--all without anyone having to upload, download or email.

The ability to flip easily between notebooks would be a huge help. As it is now, I have to exit out of one, open another, make my notes, exit that notebook, and open the original one. Thanks!

PDF and notepad at the same time would be awesome for all the readings I have to do for uni! Then to be able to easily export the notes pages only...

When writing with a stylus, your hand can contact the screen in two locations which causes the screen to move and writing to stop.

This will eliminate problems when the wrist protection doesn't work. There could be a tool that can manual zoom and grab the screen to move it instead of using two fingers. When u write with a stylus and rest your wrist on the screen, the screen won't move around.

Or a pdf and notepad to take notes in a separate book from the pdf.

I work with a lot of PDF`s and often have to add blank pages to them.
I really miss a feature where I can put two pages side by side when i turn the Ipad to Landscape mode.It would be great if you can add such a feature!

This is a very good idea! As a student, I also need to read a scrip file and take note at the same time. It could be possible only if Goodnotes could open two windows side by side (or high/low).

Ditto! I'm running against size limits in all my devices and GoodNotes is a part of the reason. PLEASE allow us to compress.

"My Scans" does the best text docs scanning of any app. in the App Store. It's simple, clean and very functional, just like GoodNotes. But, It's a 2nd app. you have to go to if you need to bring in existing doc. into GoodNotes. GoodNotes camera just is not good enough for this purpose. I'm constantly scanning doc. to edit and expand on in GoodNotes and uploading to Dropbox. This scanning ability of 'My Scans' would make GoodNotes unbeatable on so many levels. It would be really cool guys. Check out "My Scans" to see what I mean. You have a great product. I hope there may be a way to improve it in this direction.
Thank You Russ -

Simulaneously share notebooks for use through the web with other users.
Talkboard is a free app by Citrix that allows for sharing of a white board with multiple users. The writing features are in general, the same as good notes.
If notebooks could support features to share with other users simultaneously, even select notebooks, then I would be able to use good notes as a collaboration tool on top of it being a note taking tool.

Bump on this – it's one of the biggest issues for me these days when using the app. Seems like it always includes the full size image when exporting, even if the image is just a postmark inside the document.

Could you please provide a way to edit the order of the folder...
this way, we could rearrange the folders alphabetically/ by size/ content / date created / modified / custom

I just made a note with five pictures. It turned out to be 28 Mb. Too much to send it by mail. After exporting it and saving as "reduced file size" in Adobe PDF it shrunk to 1.3 MB.
It would be good to have an option to reduce the picture size similar as it is implemented in MS Word.
A decent compression should be pre-set always. Cellphone pictures (if from the iphone via photostream) are anyway too big for the quality they offer. Especially when it will be used in a note and the goal clearly will not be a poster size printout. -
