  1. When the zoom window is first activated, its position on the original page is centered. When the zoom window is again activated, its position is the last position zoom window was located.

I wonder if it's an improvement to allow the user to choose where the zoom window magnify after tapping on the "zoom window" button. Basically should it be a two-step gesture like this: First tap on the "zoom window" button, then tap the document page where your want the zoom window to magnify.

The reason for this suggestion is that I usually find myself adjusting the location of…

  6. Right now, split view supports the GoodNotes to be placed on left and right hand sides of iPad. Could you please include the option of placing the GoodNotes on top and bottom sides. It will be very useful to read and annotate the pdf documents. I can use the same pdf document on top and bottom sides and see the different pages of it simultaneously.

  7. I‘m using multiple PDF documents in one notebook with each document having around 30 pages. So let’s say with 5 PDFs I‘d have 150 pages. Sometimes I‘d like to move PDF document B in front of document A. For now I have to rearrange (move) all 30 pages one by one. Many times I mess up the order of the pages, because it‘s just hard to see the content, yet alone the page number, in thumbnail view. Grouping all 30 pages from that PDF document would make them stay together - in the correct order - and I could move…

  9. You can copy an object to the clipboard or a toolbox. The clipboard would function as normal but the toolbox would allow for multiple objects to be pasted into the document without needing to re-copy. Would be helpful for repeated objects like graphing coordinate systems. Example workflow: select objects as normal using lasso, select “copy to toolbox” instead of copy. Select the toolbox icon from the menu in which a drop down list of objects is visible. Select and hold the object and drag into notebook.

  10. Create an email to notebook function to allow users to add documents directly to notebooks via email.

Ex. Emailing bob@gn.com allows user to send to their GoodNotes files. Adding the name of a specific folder or notebook adds the document or body content to that notebook. Flag new items when a user next opens the app.

  12. As a student/foreign language learner, I want to show/hide keywords or explanations from my written notes, so that I could review and recite the keywords/explanations.

As a UI designer, I want to hide/reveal annotations, so that I could a) differentiate the annotating remark from the wireframe / structured notes and b) present notes (to myself and others) with clarity.

I believe note-reviewing is an essential part of the note-taking experience, I try to be more proactive to learn through my notes. Some alternative apps I used are margin notes 3, and liquid text. Margin note 3 in particular, has a…

  13. Sometimes when I close the app, or it closes by accident, when I re-open the app, I'm always at the "front" documents page. As I have multiple folders, in folders and documents, I have to click a few times in order to go back to a previous session of tabs that I had open before the app closed.

It would be really nice if when the app is opened, an option is available to go back to the previous session, or open the documents that were last open. So still open up on the documents page, but maybe a little…

  14. Before confirming deletion, could the dialog include the name of the notebook I am about to delete? I often feel unsure whether I tapped on the right document.

Just if other users would find such feature useful as well...

    Thanks for a lovely product!

Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll consider it. In the meantime, you can always use the recovery feature in the trash to recover accidentally deleted documents. You can find the trash in the menu.

  15. I often keep related documents together in a folder. So when I want to work on that set of documents I have to go back and forth to open all of them in their own tab. It would be nice to have the option to open all documents in a folder at once.

  16. I have a brain injury that makes reading extremely laborious and stops me cold after a minute or so. I have a need to “read” and annotate PDF docs, but don’t want to use a different app to speak the text and GoodNotes to annotate. It’s too unwieldy even with multitasking windows because the text does not sync.

  18. When writing, it is natural to tilt the notebook and place it at angle. Typically people use 45 degree angle with their paper notebooks. Some tilt more, some less.
On the other hand, when reading, typical notebook and book position is where text is perpendicular to the line of sight.
It could be really nice if there was a way to tilt notebook inside of Good Notes without tilting the iPad. Tilting entire iPad is even less convenient when iPad stands on a stand (which is how I use it most of the time).

P.S. Good Notes does recognize tilting…

  19. PDF annotation in GoodNotes 5 uses about 1/5 of the screen real estate that could have been for viewing and reading. This is an particularly for users with 9.7” screen or smaller. I hope PDF annotation will be allowed in reading mode where only a tiny toolbox for pens and eraser is shown.

  20. Notability somehow takes up considerably less amounts of space on the iPad compared to goodnotes. How can we optimise the data to maximise space saving?
