  1. Being able to adjust opacity would enable note taking to use a Boldness type feature for important ideas and parenthetical ideas could be more faint.

  2. It is getting tedious for me to switch between 6 commonly used colours with a 3-slot palette when there is clearly space on the app interface to accommodate all 6 of them.

  3. I have several realistic brushes for procreate such as muji pen and 6B pencil and i believe it would give potential customers more incentive to use GoodNotes if they were able to write with a realistic handwriting or change the style of their pen. This increased customisation would result in a better ability to feel like you truly are studying. Please do add it in as I have taken to writing on procreate and importing it into GoodNotes and it is a rather inconvenient process/ situation that GoodNotes is well capable of improving to their benefit. Sincerely, Tabitha

  4. Could GoodNotes only store recent accessed files for quick access and store unused files automatically on iCloud? It will be really useful for devices running out of storage.
iCloud Drive on the iPadOS files app could do that.

  5. To address the battery drain issue maybe you could implement a feature in which the software transforms strokes into vectors just every 10 seconds or so instead of doing it instantly. Or maybe an option in which one can deactivate vectoring on pdf files, where in my opinion it is not really necessary. This problem is huge! 15-20 % drain in 1 hour of use is unacceptable. Despite preferring GoodNotes, this is the reason I really am considering Switching to Notability.

  6. In the "Documents" app, if you open multiple pdf files and touch the currently open tab, the "Close other tabs" menu appears. So, you can easily organize unnecessary tabs except for the pdf file you are currently viewing.
However, the "Goodnotes 5" app shows serious inconvenience and inefficiency in opening a new window, removing unnecessary windows, and then finding and opening the required pdf file again.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. In the meantime, please try disabling the ability to automatically open documents as new tabs in GoodNotes > Menu > Settings > Document Editing. You can still open documents as new tabs by tapping on the drop down arrow next to their name in the library view. The best way to open a previously opened document is from the search tab in the “Previously Opened Documents” section.

  7. I’d be great if we could share some notes with other GoodNotes customers. I don’t mean real-time edition, I mean only sharing and sync the changes, like sharing a folder or a PDF on Dropbox or Google Drive, the same walkthrough. Thanks

  9. Goodnotes allows you to set a return line height to match a template's line width, so that when you click the "return" button in the zoom window it moves down the page the right amount to begin writing on the next line.

However, Goodnotes does not allow one to set a default "indent" setting for that template. Templates with margins -- for instance Cornell -- would be much more useful if the user did not have to manually set the indent each time / on each page of a notebook.

  10. As an educator trying to use GoodNotes' annotate features with a PDF of slides, I found it difficult because if the scroll setting is vertical, there is just no way to advance to the next page of the PDF without some awkward scrolling. The arrow keys do not work unter vertical scrolling, it would only work with horizontal. (Many keyboards don't have page up/down.)

I hope this can be added or fixed, along with a plain old "select" icon so that we are not accidentally drawing all over the document if we just want to read it.

    I also have…

  11. Currently there is no way to write in a straight line using unlined paper in Goodnotes. A line guide built into the Zoom box would do the job nicely. This way you would be able to write straight on unlined or blank paper and never worry about your handwriting getting too big or too small as you write on blank paper. A line guide would allow you to safely write neatly in a straight line on blank pages.

  12. I am trying to print a range of pages in Goodnotes 5.

I pull up thumbnail view of the pages in my notebook. I click Select, then mark the pages I'd like to print, then export to PDF, then I am not given an option to print the pages. I am only given options to upload to cloud, save to iPad, etc. The only printing features I can find in Goodnotes 5 are to print the current page and to print the entire notebook.

I had no problems doing this in Goodnotes 4. Please fix.

  13. Sometimes I import the same image more than once onto a page. The first time, the image will be of a certain size. The second time I import it, it comes in larger. This is very puzzling. 9-handle resize as well as alignment options would be welcome. And like others, I don't understand why images come in so large. Even when they're made pretty small.

  15. Right now, there is only "free-form" select.

It would be convenient to have a "box-select" option that selected everything in the window. Similar to a cropping tool.

  16. I would like to see a possibility to delete a notebook locally and only save it in the Cloud like it is done in Apple‘s books app. This would be helpful if you have a relatively small device storage and many large documents you don‘t need all the time. You could just download them if you need them to look something up.

  17. Being able to have free movement of the page, e.g. the left corner of the page on the right side of the screen, because currently what is happening is that the page snaps back to the center when you try to do that.
