Adding a ruler to GoodNotes 5 (or future versions)
I've noticed that a lot of people have already asked for this, but those might land on having the need for more information.
I'd like to see a feature like this added, because the predictions are wrong so often! I pull a line which I want to be straight, may have wiggled slightly and GN5 in some cases recognises it as a curve.
A ruler in GN5 would also just help you with sketching up stuff real quick, like a sheet or so without having the need to either import your own paper that has this or rely on the…

Line input smoothing
Have a feature similar to photoshop, where you can adjust the smoothing of your lines. This would make drawing shapes and diagrams easier, also make handwriting notes easier for those with a shaky hand.
For both iPad and Mac please

Color coded tabs for different notes.
Would be great to be able to change the colour of different notebook tabs to speed up switching between them. When I study, I only close tabs after the course is finished so I sometimes have 20+ tabs open at a time. Would be awesome if I could, for example, have lecture slides in one colour, reference notes another and notebooks in yet another etc. or different modules in different colours.

Create color palette
I think it would be a good feature having the option to organize the pen and highlighter colors into different palettes and having the same colors for both, now we have to type the hex code twice

Scan handwritten notes
I’d like for Goodnotes to have the ability to scan handwritten text on paper and copy into Goodnotes pages. For instance, using Goodnotes to take a picture scan of handwritten notes in a notebook, and turning that scan into a handwritten page in an existing or new document in Goodnotes. I often find that I don’t always have my iPad with me, and may need to jot something down on paper quickly. Being able to import these notes as something other than pictured would be an amazing feature and time-saver.

Typing: type text smoothly like in One Note or Notion
GoodNotes is a killer app for taking notes by hand but it’s really weak in the typing department.
Things that would make GoodNotes perfect:
- pre-set text formatting (title, headings, subheadings, normals text)
- text alignment (right, left, center, etc.)
- lists (bullet, number, checkbox)
- toggles (like in Notion)GoodNotes is wonderful for annotating PDFs, pictures and books and for drawing diagrams. However, it’s impossible to write all my notes by hand so I have to use Notion for typing and just insert the pictures I annotated or diagrams I drew in GoodNotes into Notion. So I now use…

For people who do a lot of math (and love clean notes) it would be super helpful if there was something like an automatic recognition for {curly brackets}!

Use PDF format that enables auto-exporting for highlights to Readwise
You can’t save or export highlights on PDFs imported into GoodNotes. But given GoodNotes is such a nice PDF reader, I want to do reading in GoodNotes and then be able to use the content I’ve highlighted elsewhere, e.g. combine it with highlights in Pocket or Instapaper, as part of my research workflow. But at the moment the highlights are static and stuck in the app, so you have to go back through each reading 1 at a time. Enabling highlight exporting — especially if automated via Readwise — would be a gamechanger in allowing me to use GoodNotes for…

Improve size of flash cards on mac
The flash card studying window on a mac is not using the screen size. The window on an iMac is so small that the cards are only barely readable even if the application is opened as a full screen window.

flip and zoom in on flashcards
The new function is great! I think however we could take better advantage of the space by making landscape cards that fill the screen and flip to reveal the answer, since it is very hard to read half page cards if they are small, especially if we can’t zoom in on them

Align my writing ✍️
Long sentences I write curve down when using blank pages or creating flash cards. I’d like to enable an option to auto-straighten or auto-align my sentences.

Read out loud selected text or entire page
I have dyslexia and it would be wonderful if I could listen to the notes I take. Right now I have to copy it and paste is a page that could read it for me. So it would help me a lot if an option for reading out loud is added

Option to hide flashcards
I was reading the document and making flashcards. But when reading it again, i had to go through like 20 flashcards while reading my document, which i felt was annoying. Either there could be option to hide flashcards, or a separate tab for them as there is for outline, thumbnail etc
