We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the…An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment I’d like to be able to view multiple pages side by side, for example to compare 2 pages, or have refer back to one specific page while writing on a different one. I also wish that when zooming out i can position the page anywhere on my screen; right now its only in the center and when I’m taking notes on a video for example, it would be useful to still have the whole page available for writing instead of part of it behind the video.

I need to be able to see two pages at the same time. Not by opening in a new window because that’s just overly complicated for something that should be simple, i want to be able to see one page and then the next page side by side and when i scroll i want to see the next 2 pages side by side- the way you do when flipping pages in a book. This is a basic feature that Goodnotes needs to implement right away if they want to stay competitive with other note taking apps. See attached photo for example of what i mean, because this feature has been suggested for a while now and Goodnotes just doesnt seem to get it.
