Please oh please and very please add OCR for PDF files. Lack of this is the only reason I'm using notability.

It’s possible with notability - such a shame...

I often paste screenshots of slides into goodnotes during lecture, and write over them. I can already search my writing. I would like to be able to search text on the inserts too.

I've been looking for an app with this function for years.
Can't find one. I would pay for the service more than for any other app.
And btw make OCR ceep the format of the Handwriting or make it support Markdown, so that you can export your handwritten Text and when you paste it in a Markdown Editor it is formatted perfectly -

I would pay $200+ for the app if it could do this.

Why the hell is this not a feature yet? People have been asking for this for 5 years. Google’s API in docs should make this possible...

Yes please, I would move from OneNote if images / scanned documents could also have their text searchable.

I previously used Noteshelf and Nebo before I saw the Goodnotes "light" - I still have many pages of *handwritten* notes in other applications which I want to migrate to Goodnotes because it can search my handwriting so easily.
Goodnotes already has the feature to OCR scan a hand written note through the camera as it stands, why not at the very least allow the scanner to select a photo to use as the scan (then a user can have output a document from another handwriting app as an image) or more conveniently, why not allow OCR scanning (for handwriting) of any imported PDF?
It would be the final link to complete migration to Goodnotes without the need to even "keep" any other apps on my iPad!
I only hang on to those apps because they have left overs in them!
Thanks.

I'd get an ipad just to use good notes if it had this feature. Otherwise there's a barrier between new notes and my previously handwritten notes when I make the transition to using this software.

I keep notes in a journal and would love to be able to take a screenshot of the page and put it into GoodNotes and have it be searchable. As good as GoodNotes is, a pad of paper and pen is hard to beat. But combine the two together and you have a winning combination. To be able to search my journal? Never going to happen. That involves flipping and scanning pages. But to search GoodNotes after I took a photo of the journal page? That's genius.

google photos does that just copy paste the text :), I hope Good Notes make that feature so that we do not need to put extra effort

I came here searching for a way to do this very thing and was disappointed to see it’s not part of the GoodNotes feature set. I would absolutely love this feature!! GoodNotes 4’s handwriting recognition has blown me away. If it can recognize my handwriting, then doing OCR on scanned pages should be trivial. :) I would make very frequent use of this feature.

Feature would be extremely helpful.
e.g. I've just started Italian lessons. Instead of lugging two large books around with me everyday, I've scanned them in and use them in GoodNotes. Now if I could use search on the document too...wow.
