1. Improve the writing

   Well you know how you can get an automatic shape? Why not add an automatic lettering tool so it looks more like the letters you write. it would make my notes a lot easier to read and write with.

2. History/Spaced Repetition Notes/Tape/Layers

   1. A history of all notes opened. This should have a duration limit. Say if someone spends 10 minutes reading or revising a note it should go into history. Or let each history entry be deletable.
   2. Calendar view of which notes were opened on what dates and what time.
   3. Ability to schedule entire notes or pages of notes into a spaced repetition system.
   4. Ability to rate how well you know the notes.
   5. Noteful introduced tape feature to hide parts of notes similar to cloze feature of Anki. They have Layers as well. Goodnotes should introduce these features

   indent feature
   - allow bulleted items to have multiple different horizontal start locations
   - "tab" key on keyboard asks like indent button
   - select / highlight bulleted items, click tab key or indent button --> goodnotes indents selected lines (instead of deleting them)
   - click tab key or indent button, type "- " to create a new bulleted item --> goodnotes begins a new list item indented one level inwards

   improved line spacing option
   - line spacing could automatically align with the lines on the default papers (like the graph paper)
   - input value instead of slider

   specific "list" feature
   - allow users to turn lines of text into a list without having to typing "- " before each line
   - highlight / select lines of text, select list option (like in word, docs, etc.) --> goodnotes formats text like as a list
   - accessible in the same way was bold, italics, underline, & strikethrough

4. Real Student offering Honest App Advice! PLEASE LISTEN!

   Hello!

   I absolutely love your app, it has completely changed the way I take notes and I love it!

   I do have honest suggestions that would greatly improve this application from the student's perspective.

   1. Toolbar Customizability; The ability to add more than one tools that you often use into the toolbar by dragging and dropping. For example, I really wish I could add more than 3 colours on the main toolbar. I switch between a lot of colours, and it is quite a pain to go into each individual tool section and choose it. Why not drag and drop your most-used tools or colours or preferences? Customizability is very important for students, especially when it comes to being efficient.

   2. Graphing and Shapes Improvements; I like the ability for you to freehand and it will make the shape for you. But sometimes I just want a normal rectangle or a circle. I would suggest implementing an ability to choose to insert common shapes so you can manipulate them the way you'd like, alongside the freehand tool. In addition to the shapes, you should add axis presets much like in Microsoft Onenote. You can add x,y or x,y,z axis and even cartesian planes! For a student, that would make like so much easier. I make many graphs, and the auto shape with the lines just doesn't cut it.

   3. A ruler! Like the ruler in Apple's notes app. I'm pretty shaky, so it would be nice if there were an option to have a ruler on screen that I can manipulate and draw straight lines with! It is lifechanging, trust me!

   4. Implement more usage of the touch bar on the mac application. You have so much opportunity to use all of these new technologies apple is throwing at you. Use them!!

   I would be happy to share my opinions on the app at any time. I use this app for school literally every day and honestly, there can definitely be some features that could be added to make life a little easier on this app. I value this application a lot, so if you ever want honest suggestions from a real student, get in contact with me. I'd be glad to share the student's perspective. I have many more ideas too.

   Thanks for the suggestion. This needs to be supported by Drafts and we know that the developer of the Drafts app is aware of it already.

7. Please make your new version compatible with iOS 6

   Not everyone wants to upgrade to iOS 7. I really want to use this with a full version, but I'm not allowed since I keep iOS 6. Please don't make me to upgrade my iPad system, which is the last thing that I would like to do with my iPad. So please just make it compatible with iOS 6! I'll appreciate it!

8. Various ideas from solution pen, to OneNote synchronization, to manually trigger synchronization, to fix text on Post-it and Notion connecti

   It would be cool if there is a solution pen that is only displayed when you switch to a solution mode, because for example you have a whole list full of sentences that you have to learn the answer to, and so you can just query it yourself, (the flashcards are handy, but with whole pages full of questions it gets too much). Example. You write down the questions with the normal pen, and then switch to the answer pen, with which you write down the answer.

   I would also like to be able to synchronize certain OneNote pages with GoodNotes, because my teachers mostly work on OneNote, so I don't have to manually add all the PDFs or images to GoodNote, and when I have to export the GoodNotes document at the end of the lesson and paste it into OneNote for my teacher to view.

   Likewise, I would find it good to be able to start a synchronization directly with the key combination "⌘ command + s", for example, because I sometimes insert a picture from the MacBook that should be directly on the iPad so that I can annotate and edit it.

   Another idea that I would like is to be able to write text on a post-it that stays on the post-it even if you move the post-it, and if you select a post-it and move it, you don't move the text under the post-it as well.

   Since I use the program Notion a lot, a connection to it would also be very handy, where you can display certain GoodNotes pages automatically as a PDF or as an image, e.g. for a formula sheet or a drawing, and when you expand or modify it you don't have to export the page again and paste it on Notion.

   customization of the tools in the toolbar.
   -To be able to place the tools in the order you want
   - Within the tools as a marker, you can choose the intensity of the color (brightness)

   • Be able to create annotation routines, for example that the program detects or you introduce some patterns so that when you select a certain color or marker it already acquires a certain thickness or (better option ->) recognition of certain symbols so that it automatically changes to a tool (previously defined) and to save us having to change manually (((for example I write a "-" and automatically put the pen with the green color))

   • be able to add custom shapes to the shapes tool, in such a way that you draw a shape that you want and save it, and when you draw that shape quickly the program will recognize it and replace it with the saved one (as with circles)

   -Add the option of being able to use in the pens the color that uses the laser line or pointer

   -When adding photos to be able to adjust the opacity

   -Ability to create custom-sized templates (such as Photoshop when starting a new job asks you if you want standard stockings or customize the canvas

   -Custom tables (without having to insert templates) that can make simple excel-style calculations, block schedules (blocks that remain fixed in the cell positions (not having to put them approximately))

11. improvements i’d like to see in good notes

    • audio recordings that sync to the handwriting (fundamental)
    • the possibility to use light or dark mode independently from the system
    • have only one color palette for both pens and highlighters
    • the dropper tool to add colors to the palette
    • edit / personalise toolbar with the possibility to hide features that we don’t use often in a little “+” sign where we can find all of them that one time we need to (this would be AWESOME)
    • improvements on the text tool (add the option to write all over the page like in word and not only within text boxes
    • infinite page + the possibility to write over two pages
    • personalizable eraser size (with a slide like pens)
    • add a floating “favourite toolbar” in addition to the standard one where users can put all their favourite features (pens with a specific dimension or color, lasso tool, eraser with a specific dimension) and that the user can move all around the sides of the page and maybe even collapse it to an icon when not in use
    • DUPLICATE OPTION (for text, images, handwriting, everything) this way users don’t need to select, copy, hold on a blank space and finally paste, it’s a very long a tricky process if you need to duplicate something multiple times

13. Access Notes from Lock Screen

    I'd love to see Goodnotes accessible via a apple pencil tap on the lock screen. Currently Apple Notes can be accessed this way, it would be nice if Goodnotes could replace this the default Notes. Options to open last open notebook when tapped would be a great compliment to this feature.

    Sadly, Apple will need to open this up for third-party developers like us. There’s nothing we can do to overwrite system features like this.

14. Import a (Microsoft) Word file properly

    Now, when importing a word file it isn’t imported properly and everything is shifted, some things are missing and it just doesn‘t work. We‘d like, that it works as good as importing pdf files! Because that’s just awesome!

    Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortuantely, sometimes the format of Word documents can’t be read by our PDF converter correctly. In cases like this, please save the Word document to PDF first and then import it with GoodNotes.

    Instead of :
    two-finger double-tap for undo
    three-finger double-tap for redo
    If it can be just one tap It would be much faster

    Thanks for sharing your feedback. We have tested this option and found that it is causing interferences with our palm rejection and often gets triggered by accident, which is why we decided to implement a more pronounced gesture with the double-tap. You can also use the iPadOS gestures for undo and redo to swipe right and left with three fingers.

17. No delay while using sidecar with Mac and iPad

    This is all about sidecar. If you don't know what that is, here's a link that explains what it is: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210380.

    I use my iPad as the second display of my mac so I can be on zoom on my laptop and take notes on my iPad by typing on my laptop - this is easier than typing on my iPad. This really makes it convenient for me as a student. However, one thing I noticed is that there is a HUGE delay between my action and reaction. Basically, when I scroll on my mouse, it takes 1-2 secs for goodnotes to actually scroll. The same thing also happens when I write with my apple pencil: there is also a delay, just like the delay in the scroll.

    So, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE solve this issue, and I'm sure it would be a way better experience with goodnotes after that fix. Thank you very much!

    Could you please check if it would also happen in other apps? If the delay is only very noticeable, please send us an email to support@goodnotes.com and include a video where we can see how it looks like for you. It is likely a bug that we will need to fix.

    My mac cannot upgrade for macOS 10.15 so, I'd like to have goodnotes app version that is suitable for me to update my notes across between my iPad and my mac.

    Sadly, the technology we’re using to develop the Mac app, called “Mac Catalyst”, is not compatible with macOS versions below 10.15. We currently don’t have any plans of changing that.

19. Make GN5 compatible with other smart stylus!!

    Please, people that don't has an apple pencil but has another smart stylus now can't use it with GN5 as they did in GN4. I'm a new user, and when i found that out I had already bought GN5, and now I don't want to spend another 8 dollars to buy GN4

20. Access with double tap on screen-off with apple pencil

    I wish that we could access good notes when you double tap the apple pencil on the screen turned off. That would be amazing when you have a digital planner in the app.

    Indeed, it would be fantastic. Sadly, this is a system feature that Apple hasn’t opened for third-party app developers like us. We’ll be the first to implement that should they open it up at some point.
