  1. Redaction

    Please add the ability to redact (or black out) portions of text. I’d like to email documents to clients but there is often confidential information that needs to be removed.

    You can change the pen color to black and draw over the sections you want to redact. Export it as a flattened PDF and the confidential information can’t be seen by anyone else.

  2. A cursor does not show in text boxes when it is being edited on Mac Version of GoodNotes 5 running on macOS Catalina.

  3. Export templates

    It would be great if we can export the list of custom template to another device. Currently, I am not able to use custom template in other device.

    There’s an easy workaround you can apply to do that:

    1. Create a new notebook without a cover and the custom template selected
    2. Export the document or the single page as PDF

  4. Apple Pencil rotating and resizing

    Please allow more capability to the Apple Pencil. After I used Lasso Tool to select items, I couldn't long press to activate secondary menu. Please allow Apple Pencil long press so that we do not need to switch to use finger.

    Second, while resizing using finger, it always recognise as Drag and paste, please fix.

    The latest update GoodNotes 5.5 is now available on the App Store. While scrolling through your document, you can now see the current page number and the total number of pages in this document. If you don’t like to see the page numbers, you can disable it in Menu > Settings > Document Editing.

  6. Add ‘Open In GoodNotes 5’ as an Activity/Action extension in iOS Safari/Chrome. Currently not an option.

    Currently GoodNotes is not a ‘Open In’ activity/action extension option from mobile web pages. If I want to edit an article from a website I need to Create a PDF and then Open In GoodNotes or Save to another app and then import to GoodNotes. Notability has this feature already.

  7. Lock page position in presentation mode (GN5)

    I really like the ability to lock a page position and zoom when using Goodnotes as an electronic whiteboard for lecturing.

    Unfortunately, this feature didn't make it in the presentation mode of Goodnotes 5. That's a real bummer, because it is really helpful in a classroom. It would be nice if you would add this feature again!

  8. Screen/view lock feature from GN 4 should make it to GN 5 as well.

    In version 4 while in presentation mode there was an option to lock the screen/view to what the presenter wanted the audience to see. Zooming in and out or writing anything outside of that locked screen/view was not visible to the audience. It would be greatly appreciated if this feature can make it to version 5 as well and become a 4th option under "presentation mode". In addition to Mirror 1. Entire Screen 2. Presenter Page 3. Full page, it'd be a great asset to have 4. Mirror Locked view/screen (or desired portion to be displayed). Something to that effect.…

    In the update 5.3 for iPadOS, we added the ability to open GoodNotes in multiple windows, which enables you to open the same document in two windows side by side. By tapping on the share button in the navigation bar, you can choose the window you want to present from, essentially enabling you to do much more than screen lock did in GoodNotes 4.

    You can freely zoom in and out or change the page on the other window without affecting what your audience sees.

  10. Add backup to dropbox to 5 i will have to stay with 4 until this is added back

    The missing backup to drop ox or Google drive is a problem.

    We’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

  12. Ability to use additional fonts

    Hello,

    I purchased the full version of this great application and have been using it for some time. The one thing that I would absolutely love to see changed... I mean I feel if the functionality allowed this it would turn this from being a great application to an amazing must have application is the ability to use additional fonts. Why do you restrict the font selection to just a few??? Why not allow us to use any font that we have installed (.ttf) File) in our iPhone or iPad??? I would be elated if you would consider adding this…

    GoodNotes 5 supports all system fonts. This means you can install new fonts on iOS using an app like “AnyFont”, which will be accessible through GoodNotes 5’s text tool. Please note that installing custom fonts on your iOS device can be a security risk as it is usually happening by installing custom profiles, which we do not recommend.

  15. Search bar - recognition of languages

    In GoodNotes 4 I was able to use the search tool without any problem but in GoodNotes 5 I’m not able to use it properly because my language thus the alphabet of it is not supported. It makes really difficult to search in my documents.
    It would be much appreciated to have a search tool that is usable in my language too.

  16. Add a Mac Version of Goodnotes5

    Goodnotes 5 is amazing. Thx for listening to us and adding so much long time requested features! But one great feature for me was the mac sync. And now after purchasing gn5 I noticed that the mac version does only work with gn4 and there is no v5 on the mac. So I cannot use my notes on the mac anymore?!

  17. I can use lasso tool to select objects on the page, move them around, but can’t resize, or rotate them.

    Now I can only use it to select my handwriting and move the selected object around but when i press the select object to pull more options, i failed, it just copied what i select. I think there must have some bugs in this new updated version. Because before i update this app yesterday, this question never happens.

  19. GoodNotes Desktop: Change Scrolling Behaviour

    In the current implementation, scrolling with the trackpad leads to the document moving even after the fingers have left the trackpad. This is probably due to the direct port of the iPad App to Mac. This behaviour is, however, really annoying because it is different to all other Mac-native scrolling behaviour where there is no scrolling after-effect.

    Having an option to revert back to the old, traditional scrolling behaviour would tremendously enhance the Desktop user experience.
