Editable bookmarks and table of contents (outline) which are exportable together with the pdf file.
Other pdf apps should be able to detect the bookmarks and outlines.
130 votesOutlines and hyperlinks will be preserved in exported PDF when the file format is set to “Editable” in the export options.

Additional fonts
First of all great app. Very clean, very easy to use. Any chance we could a slightly larger variety of fonts to choose from? a couple of fonts that have a hand written appearance would be nice. My disability prevents me from actually writing, I copy and paste charts and information onto the pages, then type over them with my own notes.
218 votesGoodNotes 5 includes all system fonts. You can also install more fonts through external profiles to your device, which will be available in the GoodNotes 5 text tool. You can change fonts by tapping on the brush icon in the upper right when the text tool is selected.

Please add scanner function to the camera.
I want to use my camera to scan directly to goodNotes..but the camera function must be better example with a scanner function.Thank you
77 votesWe added an OCR document scanner to GoodNotes 5.3 on iPadOS. You can now scan documents and add them to your library in GoodNotes or to existing documents. Tap the + button in the library or in the navigation bar of an open document and select “scan”.
the document scanner supports OCR to make typed text searchable in GoodNotes for all latin-based languages. You can read more about our latest update on goodnotes.com/ipad-os.

Tap anywhere ability to enter text like Notability
Right now I'm using GoodNotes for handwriting notes during a lecture, and Notability for typing up reading notes because GoodNotes DOES NOT make it easy to take type written notes. Please add a tap anywhere to start entering text, AND then stay in text mode until one goes out of text mode. That would allow me to use GoodNotes for every note taking task. Thank you!

Return page feature
When reading a PDF document, If there is link to go to another page.. There is no way to return back quickly; I must use GO TO feature to return my previous page. For glossaries it's less efficient.
Please put a feedback feature closed to the app, i do had to access this webpage to give you my feedback :)
The app is cool :D I bought hte previous one too.

Allow side by side view
Allow 2 page view. This enables student to read the pdf on one side, and take notes on the other side
9 votesWe’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the… -
Flashcards
Either a feature or separate app that uses your software to make flash cards at someone could draw on and then be able to flip them on the iPad
127 votesWe have added a “Flash Card Study Mode” and the ability to create flash cards in GoodNotes 5.6.0. You can read more about it here: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001888175

Shape edition with snap points
When creating shapes, each vertex should have a movable snap point, so we could resize the polygon on any shape we want, just like the app Notes Plus. For engineering students like me it would be very useful when drawing complex structures that need precision.
19 votesWe’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

Add an eraser button in the zoom window toolbar
While its only a minor inconvenience, when I'm taking notes in a class where the professor really likes to speed along, having to go to the top of the screen to select the eraser, then back to select the pen, I can quickly fall behind what the prof is saying.

Include a nice "laser" pointer in presentation mode.
Goodnotes is my weapon of choice for teaching, since I'm able to annotate and zoom right on my slides, during the presentation. Nevertheless, having to juggle two pens (laser pointer + stylus) at the same time is cumbersome and often induces me to humorous mishaps during class, which distracts the attention. I really like Apple's Keynote laser pointer. Why not make something like it!?

Optical Character Recognition
One of the best features for me were searchable PDFs in GoodNotes with the last update.
You could further enhance this experience, if you would add the ability to search your handwritten notes, too. I know this feature would be a lot of work, but you would get really close to Pro Note Tools like OneNote from Microsoft.116 votes -

The latest update GoodNotes 5.5 is now available on the App Store. While scrolling through your document, you can now see the current page number and the total number of pages in this document. If you don’t like to see the page numbers, you can disable it in Menu > Settings > Document Editing.

Ability to resize the shapes
It would be very nice to be able to resize the shapes that are auto drawn. Even better would be the ability to snap and unsnap segments of shapes, but I would be happy with resizing the shapes

The ability to size a page to A4 for better printing
The pages in a document are not based on standard paper sizes, it would be useful to be able to set a page size to a4 or a5 so that the document would print out to fit the paper size properly instead of there being a gap at the top and bottom.
41 votesIt’s possible to change the template of the current page to A4 in the … menu under “Change Paper Template”

Add option to change color/size/style of selected writing
Sometimes I want to resize or recolor parts of my notes after I have written them down in class. I don't always have time to change styles and colors in the middle of a lecture, so it would be nice to be able to change these things with a few simple clicks afterwards.
