  2. Sadly the Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 1 didn't make it into GoodNotes, so let's try it with the 2nd generation. I would love to the all three features fully integrated into GoodNotes (Pressure sensitivity, palm rejection and shortcut functionality).

I know the Wacom fineline stylus is right here on the feedback page, but with it's additional two shortcut keys I am really excited about the CS2, not the fineline!

  3. Hello! I wish you add a modular toolbar which I can snap of the current position and move it anywhere I like. And also the ability to customise the toolbar would be nice. Still, cheers for the great app!

    Thanks for your feedback!

We’re excited to share that in our latest update (September 2025), we've added the floating toolbar, that you can place anywhere on the screen: top, bottom, left, or right — for a more personalized and flexible workspace.

Make sure you're updated to the latest version to access this new feature.

Toolbar customization options are currently in development and will be available very soon.

Thread for the customization feature request here: https://feedback.goodnotes.com/forums/191274-customer-suggestions-for-goodnotes/suggestions/50583833-toolbar-customization

We’ll share another update as soon as the customization options go live — stay tuned!

  7. Currently, there is no way to add new entries to the "PDF Outlines". In principle, I would want to avoid using bookmarks to add "structure" to my documents: IMO, bookmarks should be temporary placeholders, whereas the outline is a more permanent structure of headings and subheadings.

  9. It would be cool to have the option, to lock a document, so that it only can be accessed by keyword/face_id/fingerprint. This would be nice for Bankstatements, private diaries or just as a way from keeping other ppl from snooping around in ur documents

    Thanks for sharing the idea!

The option to lock your documents with a password or Touch ID is already available in the app. Make sure you’ve updated to the latest version.

  10. allow for custom outline order, current outline is in order outline is added (not in page order), allow to for choice of how to order outline titles (alphabetical, page #, date added, etc). also after closing app, view options for seeing/not seeing for example pdf outlines resets-- make choice semi-permanent or until you manually change and select or unselect an option again.

Hello, thanks for sharing the idea!

Currently, there are 2 options for ordering sub-items in the outline: manual ordering and sorting by page number.

    1) For custom ordering, simply drag and drop items to a new position between other items.

    2) The option to sort the outline by page number just went live in the recent iOS release (version 7.0.22). To enable it, tap the top-left icon in the Outlines sidebar and select Sort by page number. Please note that switching to this option will remove any custom ordering.

You can read more details about outlines here.

  11. Better organisation options through internal links!! When you have a lot of notes you don't want to be searching through hundreds of pages for the specific topic your looking for! I would love to be able to create an index where I click on the topic and it will take me there, like google docs does (one of my favourite features). Maybe different personalisation options side tabs like a binder and you can click them to go to the specified area (as a seperate option not instead of basic internal links). I have found people asking for this as far…

Hello, the option for quickly navigating multi-page documents already exists—you can do this using Outlines.

Outlines are available in the sidebar, and you can customize them as needed: generate them with AI, create them manually, or import them from an existing PDF file.

You can find more details on how Outlines work here: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/7353757101071-Create-an-outline

  12. Immediately after I started using the app to take notes in class, I have found myself wanting a contextual menu that can show up around the pencil.

My idea would be to use the double tap in the Apple Pencil, or a double tap of the Pencil on a note (or another shortcut), that would open a menu around the last position of the Pencil.

This menu would have color palette, tool options, and tool selection.

This could allow the user to have the toolbar off or just have a shortcut to the toolbar options.

    Hello,

The Apple Pencil menu is already available. Simply squeeze the barrel of your Apple Pencil gently while writing or drawing, and the assigned menu or action will appear instantly.

  13. The pages in a document are not based on standard paper sizes, it would be useful to be able to set a page size to a4 or a5 so that the document would print out to fit the paper size properly instead of there being a gap at the top and bottom.

We’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

We’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).

With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.

How to open a new window:

You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:

    - the app icon from the dock
    - documents from the library
    - folders from the library
    - individual pages from the document thumbnail view
    - tabs from the…

  18. The latest update has the zoom window and the audio features hidden within a drop down. Since the spell check and other lasso features don’t work while the zoom window is active, it’s important to have easy access to toggle between a zoom window on/off.

    • Customize the Writing Tools panel: Show or hide writing tools and change their order with drag and drop.
    • Add more tools to the main toolbar: Include Zoom Window, Time Keeper, or Ruler.
    • Move the floating menu: Drag the Shapes or Writing Tools floating menu to any screen edge—top, bottom, left, or right—to snap it into place.

  20. Please create a view in that the current page number and the total page numbers are being shown in the standard view. This would make it easier to navigate. You could also have a function that automatically number the pages.

The latest update GoodNotes 5.5 is now available on the App Store. While scrolling through your document, you can now see the current page number and the total number of pages in this document. If you don’t like to see the page numbers, you can disable it in Menu > Settings > Document Editing.
