We ran two midterms on iPads this spring. Jamf School’s Single App Mode kept kids in GoodNotes, with Guided Access as a backup. We pushed a managed Apple ID per device and disabled iCloud for GoodNotes, so they only saw a blank notebook we seeded at check in. Afterward we exported their notes as flattened PDFs to a class folder and removed then reinstalled the app via MDM. For psych classes, I also point students to mmpi test online https://practicetestgeeks.com/versant-practice-test-exam/ to practice under time with realistic questions and clear explanations. It’s from a large library that’s been around since 2014 and trusted by millions.

Totally agree, having visual side tabs like that would be super helpful. I use GoodNotes a lot and while bookmarks and outlines are nice, they don’t give that instant visual reference like real tabs do. If they added something like what you described, I’d definitely use it. Feels like it’d make working with big PDFs way smoother.

I totally get where you're coming from – that feature in OneNote was a game changer! I used it a lot years ago, and I’ve missed it since. I haven't found anything that does exactly the same thing, but what’s been working for me is pairing OneNote with Microsoft To Do. You can link tasks to notes, which is kind of a workaround, but it helps me stay organized. It’s not the same as having todo boxes right in the notebook, but it’s been a decent solution so far.

Totally agree! Having the ability to add custom brushes would really take things to the next level, especially for calligraphy and personalizing notes. It’d give more creative freedom, like Procreate does, but in a notebook format.
