File & folder hierarchy for improved notebook/folder management with better ui
Even though we have some category options, they are limited and the ui is not the best. Implementation of a folder hierarchy structure with a better ui (may be with tags/labels) will make managing notebooks much more easier. Lack of hierarchy on folder management is the biggest problem&missing feature of all note taking apps which are currently available and this difference will surely make GoodNotes the preferred one over other competitors.

Allow backup to multiple file types (both GoodNotes + PDF)
When selecting auto backup options, allow users to choose more than one type. Backing up as GoodNotes is good when a restore is needed, but having a backup to PDF ensures that the data is accessible no matter what.
3 votesThis is now possible with auto-backup in the newly released GoodNotes 5.4 update.

Fix iCloud Sync
Fixing slow or never ending iCloud Upload. Just a few notes from me get synced to other devices. The most notes are never synced and just get tagged with the Upload arrow.
357 votesHi everyone,
We’re happy to announce that we have finally found a fix for the issues with iCloud. Apple’s engineers confirmed that there was a bug with the GoodNotes folder in their own system.
After updating to version 4.11.11, which is available as an update on the App Store, you should be able to quickly sync all your changes and notebooks across all of your devices again.
We want to take the chance to say sorry again to everyone that was affected by the problems. Thank you so much for staying with us during these hard times!
In case you should experience any trouble with iCloud after updating to the latest version, please contact our support. -
A better way to draw lines
The line shape mode isn’t accurate and often moves the two points around, if it could be changed to something like notability has (where it snaps to straight lines and connects points by pressing and holding a pen stroke) that would be great
5 votesWe’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

Moving pages between notebooks instead of copy, paste and delete manually
To move pages between Notebooks, you have to copy and paste the respective page. After that you have to go back and delete the page from the original place in order to avoid double pages. Please ad a function to just move pages from one Notebook to another.

Draw a line and hold to convert it to auto-shape like in Notability
I use GoodNotes for math notes and frequently I want to draw a single straight line (likes a large fraction bar) and go back to writing without shape conversion. Notability has a nice shortcut for this where you draw a line and hold it in place to automatically draw a straight line; it would be nice if GoodNotes could add this.

File search in GoodNotes for Mac
It would be nice to have a search function in the Mac-version like in iPad-version to find files much easier.
3 votesWe’re happy to announce that we released GoodNotes 5 for Mac. It is available for sale on the Mac App Store and requires macOS Catalina. You can read all about it here: https://medium.goodnotes.com/goodnotes-5-for-mac-is-now-available-on-the-mac-app-store-b313e15c053c

Add GoodNotes to the Safari share sheet
Add GoodNotes to the Safari share sheet. This is an option for MS OneNote but does not appear to be an option for GoodNotes. Alternatively set up GoodNotes as a printer option.
2 votesGoodNotes 5.3 on iPadOS and iOS 13 now allows you to save webpages as PDF to GoodNotes via the share menu on Safari and other browsers.

Pointer tool
calculations. I often have the need to point to somewhere on the screen. Now I have to use the markup tool to do that, but I always have to undo before going on.
The best solution would be to show the cursor when hovering over the screen, but as far as I understand that is not possible with the Apple pencil.
Next best would be to have a " pointer" tool to point things out.
This could be some kind of tool that's quickly accessible in the toolbar.
Or maybe would be possible to use your finger as a pointer?…
8 votesGoodNotes 5.2 is now available as an update on the App Store, including the new presentation mode. The new laser pointer now has two styles: dot & trail. Trail will create a laser “trail” that disappears after 1 second making it the perfect “pointer” device.

Custom Fonts via profiles
fonts installed on iPad via profile should be displayed. AnyFont app can be used to install fonts (http://www.anyfont-app.com). competitor Notebooks shows all fonts.
1,239 votesGoodNotes 5 supports all system fonts. If you install custom fonts via profiles to iOS, you can use them with the Text Tool in GoodNotes. Tap the brush icon to modify the text style.

Look & Feel
GoodNotes is the most useful app for me as a University Student.
However, there is this one thing that constantly makes me want to grab another app or Paper&Pen again. It is GoodNotes' appearance before entering a notebook.
The way notebooks look and are organised is simply uninspiring, boring and extremely unhandy!
This one very thing keeps dragging me over to Noteshelf. I like everything about GoodNotes more. But the refreshing look of noteshelf is a deal breaker for me.
I would be extremely happy if there is any chance of you working on the apps' design.65 votesGoodNotes 5 adds a more modern look and feel and we hope that you like it. We also implemented many new covers and templates, so that the library view looks more exciting.

Add navigation keys (up, down, forward, backward) to the keyboard.
It would be nice to have up, down, forward, backward keys, forward delete, and possibly other conveniences, on the keyboard when in text mode. NotesPlus has this already.
2 votesThis is working in GoodNotes 4 and 5 when you’re using an external keyboard with your iPad.

UPDATE THE MAC APP. ITS BEEN MONTHS
I purchased the Mac App long before the IOS app. When i purchased the MAC app, I found little to no use for it. However, more recently, I got the apple pencil and saw SO many incredible reviews. So, I got the IOS app and was blown away. It is truly incredible. I notice that the updates are very frequent for the IOS app and takes care of any issues a user might be experiencing immediately. What I also noticed was that the MAC version of the very same app has not been updated since the end of July. Its…

Allow searching *all* documents, not just the currently open document.
I love that I can search my handwritten notes! The rub is that sometimes something I'm searching for, spans multiple notebooks. It would be wonderful to be able to search all of the netbooks for the currently selected category!

Different pens
It would be nice to have different pen options, like a pencil and maybe a calligraphy pen. I would gladly pay for them as an in app purchase.
445 votesWe added a new brush pen in GoodNotes 5 but don’t have a timeframe on a pencil because it can’t be easily done with vector ink.

Correction of the OCR results
Unfortunately my handwirting is so bad, that the OCR results are not always perfect.
It would be great, if it would be possible to change the OCR results within the convert to text window (with the ipad Keyboard). Before exporting or copying the results.
3 votesThis is possible in GoodNotes 5. You can tap on the converted text in the preview to edit it.

Fix Google Drive
Google Drive authentication no longer works - cannot sync to Google Drive any longer. Please fix! I've seamlessly synced to Google Drive until this week (May 6, 2017).
Error 403 OAuth authorization request denied. Only web-browsers now allowed to make authorization requests, but there should be work arounds. Please update GoodNotes so that I can continue to use with my Google Drive files.
7 votesSorry for the issue. It should be fixed in our latest update which is available on the AppStore.

Add a page counter
A page counter would be fine. As of now the only way to know where exactly you are on a document is to open the thumbnail feature. If the page number were displayed (maybe as an in/out option) it would save us a good deal of time.
339 votesThe latest update GoodNotes 5.5 is now available on the App Store. While scrolling through your document, you can now see the current page number and the total number of pages in this document. If you don’t like to see the page numbers, you can disable it in Menu > Settings > Document Editing.

2 Page view in Landscape mode
I would suggest to show the previous page of the same notebook when using the iPad in Landscape mode. In this case you can use the app like a normal notepad where you can read what you wrote on the previous page.
21 votesWe’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view
- tabs from the…
