Thanks for the suggestion. We don’t plan to merge with any other apps at the moment but we’d be interested in what you’re missing in GoodNotes. It would be great if you could look through the forum and add your votes to the features that have already been suggested. If you don’t find a specific feature you’re missing, please add it yourself as it will give others the option to vote and comment on your submission.

  2. It seems that GoodNotes has recently changed something with scroll on the iPad version. Now, whenever I swipe up/down quickly, it moves so quickly that I end up not knowing which page I'm on. Please change it back to the old scrolling speed.

  3. When I open the app over the shortcuts app to directly open a document, the app works fine. But when I want to close the document with the X button, the app crashes every time. iPad with iPadOS 14.0.1.

  4. Although there is a standing issue where the eraser will be lag, it was not particularly bothering me so I was fine. This was till the latest update where I had issues with writing as well. My input would not register and appeared as a shape (line) a few seconds later. Additionally, goodnotes would also abruptly jump me to many pages above or below which took me time to scroll back to my original position. Super disruptive.

I really like goodnotes and I prefer it over notability when it comes to taking my university lecture notes. So would appreciate if…

Sorry to hear about the issue. Could you please record a video where we can see the lag and the scrolling problem and send it to support@goodnotes.com? We will have a look.

P.S.: If something is not working as expected please contact our support team directly. We use this forum to organize feature requests and ideas our users have.

  5. iOS 14 introduced a new system-wide color picker (similar to macOS) that allows you to save colors to use across apps and includes an eye dropper tool. This standard color picker should replace the custom one currently used in GoodNotes.

For more information, here is the Apple Dev documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uicolorpickerviewcontroller

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We have already looked into the native color picker of iOS 14 but have decided not to use it because it limits our flexibility in terms of new features we may want to add to the GoodNotes color picker. We will add a +1 vote for you on adding an eyedropper.

  6. I cannot upgrade my work mac due to a program I have to use for my work. But I still would like to use GoodNotes on my work computer so that I can just sync my notes on the iPad and my work mac, but it appears GoodNote5 does not support mac os 10.13. Can I get GoodNotes 4 anywhere or can you somehow make it possible for GoodNotes 5 to support the older version of mac OS?

We’re sorry to inform you that GoodNotes for Mac is built using a technology that requires macOS 10.15 or higher. There is no way to make it available for older operating systems, unless Apple supports it too.

  7. I just bought an Adonit Pixel Stylus and Goodnotes 5. Unfortunately the Stylus only works for Goodnotes 4. It'll be great do get a free redownload of Goodnotes 4, so I could use the Stylus.

Thanks for your suggestion. We won’t likely do this anytime soon as we’re using iPadOS’ built-in splitscreen capabilities. Unless Apple changes what’s possible, we can’t really influence it.

  9. To address the battery drain issue maybe you could implement a feature in which the software transforms strokes into vectors just every 10 seconds or so instead of doing it instantly. Or maybe an option in which one can deactivate vectoring on pdf files, where in my opinion it is not really necessary. This problem is huge! 15-20 % drain in 1 hour of use is unacceptable. Despite preferring GoodNotes, this is the reason I really am considering Switching to Notability.

  10. My mac cannot upgrade for macOS 10.15 so, I'd like to have goodnotes app version that is suitable for me to update my notes across between my iPad and my mac.

Sadly, the technology we’re using to develop the Mac app, called “Mac Catalyst”, is not compatible with macOS versions below 10.15. We currently don’t have any plans of changing that.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your ideas — we really appreciate the thought and effort behind them 🙏

To help us review and prioritize feedback more effectively, we’re going to close this idea for now, as most of the ideas already live. It currently includes multiple suggestions, which makes it harder for us (and other users) to discuss, vote on, and track each one properly.

  12. Hello!

I absolutely love your app, it has completely changed the way I take notes and I love it!

I do have honest suggestions that would greatly improve this application from the student's perspective.

    1. Toolbar Customizability; The ability to add more than one tools that you often use into the toolbar by dragging and dropping. For example, I really wish I could add more than 3 colours on the main toolbar. I switch between a lot of colours, and it is quite a pain to go into each individual tool section and choose it. Why not drag and drop your…

  15. Currently, the newly released GoodNotes Mac app is great but it only allows me to sync notes via iCloud sync. I’m a student so I tend to use Google Drive to sync most of my notes as most college students receive unlimited storage in Google Drive as opposed to iCloud. Is it possible to sync the Mac app to the notes that’s already synced to my Google drive?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is a general issue with the iPad and the Apple Pencil that is not only affecting GoodNotes but other apps as well. The Apple Pencil sometimes has connection issues while the iPad is charging.

  17. I was using a family sharing function. But all of a sudden, 'I can't be shared' appears on my iPad and doesn't get in the app. Please solve this problem. There were a lot of important documents in the application and there was no backup. My iPad software is the latest version. I want you to tell me why this happened. And I hope I can back up.

  20. I use my iPad on landscape (horizontal) mode most of the time, and when I go through multi-page file on GoodNote 5, I want to have an option to zoom out more than the app currently supports.
When I go through a document with landscape layout, the app will limit zoom out to always fit the top/bottom edges.
I want to be able to view two pages at once by zooming out, (scrolling direction set as vertical).

Please give us a freedom to zoom out!
