Full Drag and Drop Support in iOS 11
For iOS 11, it would be great if photos, text and pdfs could be dropped into a workbook. You could also add drag and drop support for moving individual pages between different notebooks and moving notebooks to different folders.

Add "Shape Tool" button to zoom window
The "Shape Tool" is essential for writing fractions, square roots and arrows. In mathematics note-taking, it is often to switch the shape tool on/off all the time when writing in the zoom window.
Hence, it is crucial for shape tool to be "selectable" both at the tool bar as well as directly on the zoom window.
27 votesWe’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

Flash cards with implementation method different than the methods found proposed on first page of search query
Include a tool that allows the user to select, like the lasso tool, a drawn-out area of notes and render it invisible. This area can then be made visible by the tap of a finger within it (the margins of the invisible area are visible). Pretty much integrated flash cards and is valuable for those individuals using the SQ3R study method, or a similar method when taking notes.
3 votesWe have added a “Flash Card Study Mode” and the ability to create flash cards in GoodNotes 5.6.0. You can read more about it here: https://support.goodnotes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001888175

Please release Goodnotes Mac at other regions as well.

Providing a coloured pointer
Now that iPad has the screen recording feature, along with the good notes app, and use to Apple Pencil lectures can be made in the iPad..but the problem is that we do not have a coloured pointer to point on to the things we explain, so if such a feature could be introduced in the good notes app it would be great. An option that shows up a laser pointer or a coloured cursor that we can move without writing coming up...
2 votesGoodNotes 5.2 is now available as an update on the App Store, including the new presentation mode. The new laser pointer now has two styles: dot & trail. Trail will create a laser “trail” that disappears after 1 second making it the perfect “pointer” device.

Display the number of pages of each document.
There is no reminder that your document contains more than one page.
I have to go to multiple page of you and check each document.
All that is needed is a reminder that there is more than one page to the document.2 votesThe latest update GoodNotes 5.5 is now available on the App Store. While scrolling through your document, you can now see the current page number and the total number of pages in this document. If you don’t like to see the page numbers, you can disable it in Menu > Settings > Document Editing.

Multi Window/Tab OPENED side by side
I think it would be a great feature if you could open 2 tabs at the same time, opened SIDE BY SIDE.
That way, we don't have to use a separate pdf reader when we're taking notes, (both on the pdf and the notebook itself.) :)
3 votesWe’re excited to announce that we have completed this feature. It is now available in the update GoodNotes 5.3 for iPadOS (13.1).
With the update, we added full support for iPadOS’ multiple windows. It lets you do much more than viewing two documents side by side. To read everything you need to know about opening multiple documents, please visit goodnotes.com/ipad-os.
How to open a new window:
You can now open GoodNotes in multiple windows to view two documents side by side, view two pages of the same document in Split View, or pair it with other apps in spaces across your entire system. To open a new window, drag any of the elements listed below to the side of your screen:
- the app icon from the dock
- documents from the library
- folders from the library
- individual pages from the document thumbnail view

Side-by-side 2 pdfs same time
When I'm taking notes, I like to check my digital book. I would like to have 2 documents side-by-side and in a way I can edit them separately but seeing both same time.

File & folder hierarchy for improved notebook/folder management with better ui
Even though we have some category options, they are limited and the ui is not the best. Implementation of a folder hierarchy structure with a better ui (may be with tags/labels) will make managing notebooks much more easier. Lack of hierarchy on folder management is the biggest problem&missing feature of all note taking apps which are currently available and this difference will surely make GoodNotes the preferred one over other competitors.

Allow backup to multiple file types (both GoodNotes + PDF)
When selecting auto backup options, allow users to choose more than one type. Backing up as GoodNotes is good when a restore is needed, but having a backup to PDF ensures that the data is accessible no matter what.
3 votesThis is now possible with auto-backup in the newly released GoodNotes 5.4 update.

Fix iCloud Sync
Fixing slow or never ending iCloud Upload. Just a few notes from me get synced to other devices. The most notes are never synced and just get tagged with the Upload arrow.
357 votesHi everyone,
We’re happy to announce that we have finally found a fix for the issues with iCloud. Apple’s engineers confirmed that there was a bug with the GoodNotes folder in their own system.
After updating to version 4.11.11, which is available as an update on the App Store, you should be able to quickly sync all your changes and notebooks across all of your devices again.
We want to take the chance to say sorry again to everyone that was affected by the problems. Thank you so much for staying with us during these hard times!
In case you should experience any trouble with iCloud after updating to the latest version, please contact our support. -
A better way to draw lines
The line shape mode isn’t accurate and often moves the two points around, if it could be changed to something like notability has (where it snaps to straight lines and connects points by pressing and holding a pen stroke) that would be great
5 votesWe’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. It further improves the recognition of circles and squares and adds back the ability to draw shapes with the highlighter.

Moving pages between notebooks instead of copy, paste and delete manually
To move pages between Notebooks, you have to copy and paste the respective page. After that you have to go back and delete the page from the original place in order to avoid double pages. Please ad a function to just move pages from one Notebook to another.

Draw a line and hold to convert it to auto-shape like in Notability
I use GoodNotes for math notes and frequently I want to draw a single straight line (likes a large fraction bar) and go back to writing without shape conversion. Notability has a nice shortcut for this where you draw a line and hold it in place to automatically draw a straight line; it would be nice if GoodNotes could add this.
22 votesWe’re happy to announce that the update 5.6.0 that we released today adds an improved shape recognition including the option to hold at the end of a line to make a perfect shape, shape selection & editing, and curve drawing. File search in GoodNotes for Mac
It would be nice to have a search function in the Mac-version like in iPad-version to find files much easier.

Add GoodNotes to the Safari share sheet
Add GoodNotes to the Safari share sheet. This is an option for MS OneNote but does not appear to be an option for GoodNotes. Alternatively set up GoodNotes as a printer option.
2 votesGoodNotes 5.3 on iPadOS and iOS 13 now allows you to save webpages as PDF to GoodNotes via the share menu on Safari and other browsers.
