2. Zoom Lock Mode

   The two-finger swipe gesture used for page navigation frequently triggers the pinch-to-zoom function unintentionally. This is a recurring source of friction — the app zooms in mid-navigation, requiring the user to manually reset the zoom level before continuing.

   Request: Introduce a Zoom Lock toggle that disables pinch-to-zoom when activated. This should be accessible quickly — either from the toolbar or a floating button — so users can enable it during long note-taking or reading sessions where zoom is not needed. When Zoom Lock is on, two-finger gestures should be interpreted exclusively as page-turn inputs, not zoom triggers.

3. Goodnotes on foldable Android devices

   Dear Goodnotes Team,

   I would like to suggest an enhancement to Goodnotes for Android that I believe could be particularly valuable for professional users: official support for large-screen foldable smartphones, such as the new HONOR Magic V6 and similar devices.

   I am a long-standing Goodnotes user and use the platform extensively in my professional clinical practice. I have a very large Goodnotes library containing clinical records accumulated over many years, and Goodnotes has become an important part of my daily workflow.

   I am currently considering the HONOR Magic V6 as a secondary professional device. Although technically classified as a smartphone, when unfolded it provides an approximately 8-inch internal display, together with stylus support, sophisticated multitasking capabilities and hardware performance comparable to high-end Android tablets.

   This creates an interesting situation: the device is technically very well suited to running Goodnotes, particularly when unfolded, but Goodnotes for Android is currently restricted to tablets and is not officially available for Android smartphones.

   I believe it would be worthwhile for Goodnotes to reconsider this distinction for the new generation of foldable devices.

   Rather than supporting only a specific model, Goodnotes could potentially introduce a category of supported large-screen Android foldables, based on criteria such as internal screen size, Android version, RAM and stylus capability.

   For professional users, this could provide a particularly useful workflow:

   • Carry a foldable smartphone rather than an additional tablet
   • Unfold the device when Goodnotes is required and work on a tablet-sized interface
   • Access a large Goodnotes Cloud library without needing to store the entire library locally
   • Use a stylus for handwritten notes and annotations
   • Take advantage of the foldable device’s multitasking capabilities to use Goodnotes alongside other professional applications

   In my own case, this would allow me to access clinical documentation while travelling and working between different locations, without needing to carry an iPad simply to access my Goodnotes library.

   I appreciate that supporting foldable phones may require interface validation and optimisation. However, devices such as the HONOR Magic V6, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and other upcoming large-screen foldables increasingly blur the distinction between a smartphone and a small tablet.

   As Goodnotes already has an Android application, I believe official support for this category of devices could be a very useful extension of the platform, particularly for professional and business users.

   I would be very interested to know whether support for large-screen Android foldable smartphones is already being considered on the Goodnotes product roadmap.

6. Feature Request: Full Flashcard & Study Set Support for Android Tablets

   Hi Goodnotes Team,

   I am using Goodnotes on a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. While I appreciate the expansion to Android, two major issues severely limit the experience compared to iPadOS:

   Missing Study Sets: It is very frustrating that Study Sets / Flashcards cannot be imported, created, or used on Android. This feature is essential for my daily studying.

   Need for a Native App instead of a Web Application: The current Android version feels like a stripped-down Web App (PWA). We as Samsung / Android users need a true, native Android application with full feature parity to the iPad version, reliable offline capabilities, and smooth performance.

   Are there any concrete plans to replace the current web wrapper with a fully native Android app and bring Study Sets to Android/Samsung devices?

7. Centered Shapes Transform Option

   After creating a shape (such as a square) be able to highlight it with the lasso tool and have the option to centre it or position it in different parts of the page.

8. Shortcut for Changing Colors

   A simple upgrade that would help a lot with productivity and maintaining focus during my study sessions is shortcuts to change pen colors. I thought about using the numbers for it relative color in the toolbar, so number one would select the first color, number two the second one and so on.

   I love to use specific colors for the same type of information or indicating something, and selecting manually the colors every time really gets my wrist tired overtime lmao.

   I'd be really grateful if the devs can give me some of their work time to work with this

9. GoodNotes avaible for android phones

   Actually I'm using a Samsung Ultra Series which comes with a S pen and an iPad.
   I've noticed that the app isn't avaiable for phones (only some android tablets)
   It could be great if the app allows any android device almost in a "read only" mode, and for dedicated devices (as phones with pen capabilities, or external devices as keyboards, etc) integrates a "full mode" como en iOS.

10. Reworked app update algorithm

    I just updated the Goodnotes app on Windows from the Microsoft Store, only to find another update waiting for me inside of the actual app.
    You might ask yourself "Hm, that's odd. Why would it do that?" - easy answer: the app is still a web app just hidden in a native Windows app's window, meaning while you do get the native Windows title bar for the app, the app is still the website.

    The team seriously needs to streamline this updating progress, and there are two ways to do that:

    1) Turn the app into a true native Windows app
    I know this is probably not happening. The team is small, the Windows app frameworks are unreliable & replaced every few months...but it would at least limit app updates to a single, centered source - the Microsoft Store.

    2) Limit app updates to the in-app update framework
    This has already worked semi-reliably before. So why now implement two ways that are incredibly confusing?

13. New Page Shortcut

    Title: [Windows] Add a Keyboard Shortcut for Inserting a New Page

    Please add a keyboard shortcut to insert a new page in Goodnotes for Windows.

    Currently, users must manually click the "+" button to add a page, which interrupts the handwriting workflow.

    I would like to suggest:

    1. Ctrl + Enter to instantly insert a new page after the current page.
    2. An option to customize this shortcut in Settings.
    3. Support for the shortcut while using a stylus.

    As a Windows PC user who frequently takes handwritten notes, this would greatly improve productivity and make note-taking more seamless.

14. Stop Opening Every Document Just to Find Your Notes! Smart Previews & Search

    I would love to see improvements to how documents are displayed, organized, and searched within Goodnotes.

    1. Custom Document Previews and Descriptions

    Currently, documents can appear as plain white thumbnails, which makes browsing through a large collection unnecessarily difficult.

    I would love the ability to add a short description or overview of what a document contains, directly visible in the document library.

    For example, I could have a document covering:

    • BP strategies
    • Skydiving techniques
    • Equipment and safety procedures

    Rather than having to open the document to find out what it contains, I could immediately see a preview or description of these topics.

    Ideally, users could either display content from the first page, choose a different page as the preview, or create a custom description that is displayed on the document thumbnail.

    2. Improved Document Search Similar to Windows File Explorer

    I would also love a more advanced library search system, similar to searching files using Windows File Explorer.

    Instead of relying primarily on document titles, users should be able to search for specific words, topics, or information contained within documents.

    For example, if I search for "skydiving", Goodnotes could display all documents containing relevant information, even if the word doesn't appear in their titles.

    Search results could show:

    • The document name and thumbnail.
    • A short preview of the matching text.
    • The page number where the information was found.
    • Highlighted keywords.
    • An option to jump directly to the relevant page.

    3. AI Powered Search for Handwriting, Images, and Attachments

    This could become even more powerful with Goodnotes AI.

    Rather than searching for exact words, users could search for information using natural language.

    For example:

    "Find my notes about skydiving equipment."

    Goodnotes could identify relevant documents using handwritten notes, typed text, imported PDFs, images, diagrams, and attached files.

    It would be particularly useful if the AI could recognize topics even when the exact search term isn't present.

    For example, searching for "skydiving equipment" could also identify notes containing parachute diagrams, safety equipment checklists, or related terminology.

    4. Why This Matters

    As a student, I regularly work with large amounts of notes, lecture materials, calculations, and reference documents.

    The more documents I create, the harder it becomes to remember exactly where specific information is stored.

    I believe Goodnotes should make it easier to identify and locate information without having to manually open several documents.

    Combining meaningful document previews with improved search results and AI assisted discovery could make Goodnotes significantly more useful for students and professionals alike.

    The goal is simple: Spend less time searching through documents and more time actually using the information inside them.

15. Stop Rewriting the Same Formulas! Smart Formula Autocomplete & Interactive Variables

    Hi Goodnotes Team!

    I would love to see a feature that allows users to save frequently used formulas and quickly reuse them through autocomplete, with the ability to enter or change variables directly.

    1. Custom Formula Autocomplete

    For example, I could save the following formula:

    BP = x₁ + g + 2kr

    Whenever I type "BP", Goodnotes would automatically suggest the complete formula, allowing me to insert it by pressing Tab or accepting the suggestion.

    Ideally, users could create their own library of formulas for different subjects or courses.

    2. Interactive Variable Input

    This is the part I would find particularly useful.

    After inserting a saved formula, I could activate a shortcut or select an option to enter values for its variables.

    For example:

    • Goodnotes asks: x₁ = ?
    • I enter a value and press Enter.
    • Goodnotes automatically moves to g = ?
    • Then k = ?
    • Finally r = ?

    Once all values are entered, the formula would automatically update with those values.

    Ideally, there would also be an option to calculate the final result.

    3. Editing Variables in Existing Formulas

    It would also be useful to select an already inserted formula and modify individual variables without having to enter everything again.

    For example, if I wanted to change only the value of k, I could select that variable, enter a new value, and have the formula and calculated result update automatically.

    4. Two Input Methods

    I imagine two different ways of working with the feature:

    • Sequential Input: Goodnotes guides the user through each variable, using Enter to advance to the next.
    • Quick Edit: Users can directly select individual variables to modify them.

    Why I Think This Would Be Useful

    As a mechanical engineering student, I frequently work with equations that need to be reused with different values. Having to repeatedly rewrite formulas and manually substitute variables takes unnecessary time.

    A feature like this would combine formula autocomplete, reusable templates, and interactive calculations in one workflow, making Goodnotes much more powerful for engineering, mathematics, physics, and other technical subjects.

    I think this could be a valuable addition to Goodnotes, especially for students who work with mathematical formulas regularly.

17. Create merge

    I would like Goodnotes to add a Merge or Group Strokes feature.

    For example, I can draw a bracket or box shape using several separate pen strokes. Visually, the strokes are meant to work together as one connected shape. However, Goodnotes still treats each stroke as separate. If I select only one part of the shape, the rest of the bracket stays behind.

    What I want is a way to connect multiple strokes together with an invisible link, so they behave as one single object. After merging, selecting any part of the shape should select the whole merged object. Moving one part should move the entire shape while keeping the exact spacing, pattern, and layout.

    This would be useful for custom brackets, boxes, arrows, diagrams, handwritten words, labels, and reusable symbols. For example, if I draw a bracket from 6 separate lines, I want to merge those 6 lines so they act as one object before I save it as an Element.

    This is different from simply saving multiple strokes as an Element. I want the ability to merge or group strokes first, so the object behaves as one unit whenever it is selected, moved, copied, resized, or reused.

    A feature like Merge Strokes, Group Strokes, or Link Strokes Together would make custom handwriting and diagrams much easier to manage.

    Visually, it looks like one connected shape, but Goodnotes still treats it as separate individual strokes. So when you select just one line, the other parts do not automatically follow.

19. Smart Study Flashcard Template customisable

    Hello,

    It would be nice when you could change the template of the study set flascards. Just like in a normal textbook with the same standard options, like the three colors and grid, lined and others.

20. Persistent Next/Previous Page Buttons

    On Android, navigating between pages in a long document currently requires a two-finger swipe gesture. Across documents of 30–50+ pages, this becomes physically fatiguing and interrupts the writing/reading flow.

    Request: Add persistent on-screen buttons (next page / previous page) that allow single-tap navigation between pages. These should remain visible at all times during document view, without requiring the toolbar to be active. An optional toggle to show/hide them in Settings would also be useful for users who don't want the UI clutter.
