[Open multiple documents in tabs is live on Android and Windows 🎉]

Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing your suggestions and voting for that idea! We’re excited to share that opening multiple documents in tabs is now live on Android tablets and the Windows app.

You can now switch seamlessly between multiple documents using tabs—without losing your place.

Any new document you open will appear as a tab, while your previously opened documents stay open in the background at the exact location where you left off, making it easy to jump right back in.

Currently, this feature is available for an unlimited number of Notebooks and Whiteboards. For Text Documents, it’s limited to one active document for now—but this will be resolved soon.

How to enable Tabs

  1. Go to the Library
  2. Tap Settings (top-right corner)
  3. Go to Settings, then Preferences
  4. Open Document Settings
  5. Enable Open documents as Tabs

    I would love to see a feature in the Windows Desktop app that allows switching between open documents using tabs, just like in the iPad version. Being able to quickly navigate between multiple documents without closing and reopening them would greatly improve workflow and efficiency, especially when working with notes side by side.

    Please add the function to change the font of the text. The normal one is so boring. And that you can have two notebooks open at the same time.

    It would be beneficial if you could implement the tab feature to facilitate quick switching between files in the Android version.

    Need this! My professor live streams from her ipad with goodnotes, and she's able to switch from one doc to another on the fly, and it would be so helpful for me when it comes to doing homework assignments on annotated PDF files.

    They were considering it 2 years and a half ago. I really hope they still do it, this feature would be great. Unfortunately it does not appear on the Coming Features on the Goodnotes website. I just sent them an e-mail asking for it. It'd be nice! This update must be top priority!!

    In would be great if a user good quickly switch between multiple Notebooks without switching to the mainpage of the folders

    I can't have a book and a work page that I'm working on, open at the same time. I had the IOS version in a previous iPad, and it was possible!!

    I want to use Goodnote, but the matter of import file with 250MB and features different from iOS, causing me to hesitate.

    This is soooo important for students, the ones who mainly use your app! We must have multiple tabs (documents and notebooks) open simultaneously in order to navigate from a notebook to another without opening and closing them again and again. Its such a waste of time! Im sure everyone would find it extremely useful. Thank you!
